A tiled floor or wall is only as good as what sits underneath it, from a flat, primed substrate to the membrane, adhesive and grout. This category covers each stage of that build, for tilers and for floor layers preparing a base for vinyl, carpet or timber.
Surface preparation starts with primers, patching and feathering compounds, screeds and self levellers. Levelling options include Ardex K15, Mapei Ultraplan and Sika Sikafloor, along with rapid set screed mixes. Waterproofing covers liquid and sheet membranes, butyl tape and reinforcing cloth. Tile adhesives range from cement based options such as Mapei Keraflex and SikaTile to polyurethane adhesive, and grouts include cement, wide joint and epoxy types. Cleaners and additives take in accelerators, grout additives and resin dispersions.
