Davco K10 Plus is a ready-to-use, water-based polyurethane waterproofing membrane, AS/NZS 4858 Class III rated for wet areas, balconies and roofs prior to tiling. No mixing or thinning required — apply straight from the pail in two coats.

Description

Davco K10 Plus is a 1-part, ready-to-use, water-based polyurethane waterproofing membrane rated AS/NZS 4858 Class III — the standard wet-area classification for showers, bathrooms, balconies, terraces and roof walkways prior to tiling with Davco cement-based adhesives. Because it’s water-based and solvent-free with a low VOC rating of 40g/L, it’s suitable for confined interior areas where a solvent-based membrane’s fumes would be a real site problem.

The two-coat system is central to how it performs: the minimum dry film thickness is 0.6mm for walls and 0.8mm for floors, achieved by two coats at 0.9L/m² for walls and 1.25L/m² for floors. A single coat won’t reliably reach that thickness, and balconies or patios finished with a hard floor covering need two heavier coats to reach the higher 0.8mm floor requirement everywhere, not just on average.

Where to Use

  • Showers, bathrooms, terraces, balconies, roofs and walkways prior to tiling
  • Interior and exterior commercial and domestic walls and floors
  • Concrete, cement renders, screeds, lightweight blocks, prepared metal and wet-area building boards
  • Confined areas, as it’s water-based and solvent-free

How to Apply

  1. Prepare the surface — ensure it’s structurally sound, dry, clean and free from oil, grease, wax and loose material; prime concrete with Davco Ultraprime or PrimeX first.
  2. Apply the first coat — using a thick brush or short-nap roller, apply directly from the pail without mixing or thinning.
  3. Apply the second coat — after 1-2 hours drying time, apply at 90° to the first coat, checking for pinholes or air bubbles.
  4. Apply a third coat if required — only where needed for extra protection.
  5. Allow to cure — a minimum of 6 hours drying for the final coat before tiling, giving a total 6-8 hour cure depending on temperature.

Important Notes

  • Do not apply above 35°C or below 5°C, and do not allow the product to freeze.
  • Not suitable for areas of permanent water immersion such as swimming pools or spas.
  • Not suitable where negative hydrostatic pressure (rising damp) is present — a different waterproofing product is needed in these conditions.
  • All cracks and joints subject to movement must be treated with Davco K5 Bond Breaker and reinforcing tape before the membrane is applied.

Frequently asked questions

How much area does a pail of Davco K10 Plus cover?

A 20 litre pail covers approximately 22m² of walls or 16m² of floors, applying the required 2 coats at 0.9L/m² for walls and 1.25L/m² for floors. Balconies and patios under a hard floor covering need 2 heavier coats, also covering around 16m² per 20L pail.

Does Davco K10 Plus need mixing or thinning?

No. It’s a 1-part, ready-to-use membrane applied straight from the pail with a thick brush or short-nap roller. Thinning the product is specifically not recommended.

Can Davco K10 Plus be used in confined spaces?

Yes — being water-based and solvent-free, with a low VOC rating of 40g/L, it’s specifically suited to confined areas where solvent-based membranes would be a ventilation concern.
