Crushed rock, screenings and aggregates for driveways, paths and compacted bases. Choose topping and crushed rock for a firm base, stone dust in 3mm and 5mm for bedding pavers, half inch screenings, and scoria in 7mm or 20mm for garden beds and paths.
Most paving and landscaping jobs start below the surface, with a compacted base or a bed of fine material that keeps the finished layer stable. These loose materials form sub-bases, fill trenches, surface paths and dress garden beds on site and around the home.
Road base and 20mm crushed rock compact firmly under driveways and slabs. For finer surfaces and bedding pavers, use 3mm or 5mm stone dust, or topping in standard, 7mm and Tuscan varieties. Screenings are sold in half inch and 20mm grades and blue metal in 10mm, with 7mm or 20mm scoria also available. Drainage gravel is used behind retaining walls and around drainage pipe.
