Cracks, hollows and uneven patches in a floor or wall show through tiles and thin floor coverings unless they are repaired first. Patching and smoothing compounds fill damaged areas, feather out ramps and skim surfaces flat as part of subfloor preparation.
Featheredge products such as Ardex A30 and Ramp-It taper to a fine edge for ramps and shallow repairs. Ardex A45 is a rapid setting internal repair mortar, and A46 is an external patching compound. For a smooth final surface, choose Ardex Feather Finish or Fine Finish smoothing compound, Feather-It, or the Mapei Planiprep SC skimcoating kit. Ardex K15 is a self levelling and self smoothing compound for larger areas.
