Laminate is a floating floor suited to living areas, bedrooms and rental upgrades where a timber finish is wanted. Each board is built in layers, with a photographic image layer set over a core board and a clear protective layer on top.
Aussie Forest comes in jarrah, brushbox, spotted gum and Tassie oak, while Aussie Bushland has 8mm boards in blackbutt and spotted gum. The Aussie Country Series includes Sherbrooke, Gembrook, Warburton and Sassafras. For oak, Aussie Oak Series starts with white and silver, moves through natural, caramel and brown, and finishes with smoked, charcoal and rustic. The Avalin range adds Kooyong, Ivanhoe, Brighton and Newtown oak. As with any timber based floor, wipe up spills and standing water promptly.
Common Questions
Laminate isn’t recommended for bathrooms, laundries or other areas prone to standing water, since the core can swell if moisture gets underneath. For wet areas, look at our waterproof hybrid range instead. In kitchens, wipe up spills promptly and it performs well.
AC3 and AC4 are laminate wear-layer ratings, with AC4 built to handle busier, higher-traffic areas. Aussie Forest is rated AC3 with a 25 year limited wear warranty, while the Aussie Country Series is AC4 with a 15 year residential warranty.
Coverage varies by range, from around 1.7 square metres per pack for Aussie Forest to 1.86 square metres for the Aussie Country Series. Measure your room and add an allowance for cuts and waste, more for rooms with lots of corners.
Aussie Forest and Aussie Bushland focus on Australian timber species like jarrah, spotted gum and blackbutt in a high gloss finish. The Aussie Country Series and Avalin lean toward softer, more contemporary oak and grey tones in a matt finish.
