ARDEX EG 15 is a 100% solids, high-performance epoxy grout for situations demanding strict hygiene and high chemical and physical resistance. It grouts joints from 1.5 mm to 15 mm on floors and walls, internally or externally, and is rated for swimming pools and immersed applications. Solvent free and low VOC, and notably easier to clean off during application than most epoxy grouts.

Description

ARDEX EG 15 is a high-performance, 100% solids epoxy grout designed for situations that require strict standards of hygiene and high chemical and physical resistance. It grouts joints from 1.5 mm to 15 mm on floors and walls, internally and externally, and is rated for swimming pools and immersed applications. Manufactured by ARDEX Australia.

Epoxy grouts are chosen where a cement grout would fail – commercial kitchens, food preparation areas, laboratories, pools – because they do not absorb water, resist chemicals and staining, and do not suffer efflorescence. Their usual drawback is a difficult clean-off during application, and that is where EG 15 differs: it is formulated to be exceptionally easy to clean up as you work. Solvent free and low VOC. Also written ARDEX EG15.

Colour range and coverage figures are published and maintained by ARDEX rather than reproduced here, since both vary by colour and tile format. See ardexaustralia.com for the current colour selection and coverage chart, or contact us and we will confirm for your tile size and joint width.

Where to Use

  • Commercial kitchens and food preparation areas
  • Swimming pools and immersed applications
  • Laboratories and clinical environments
  • Areas subject to chemical spillage or aggressive cleaning
  • Showers, wet areas and high-traffic floors
  • Swimming and hydrotherapy pools
  • Internal and external walls and floors

How to Apply

  1. Check the joints – they must be clean, free of dust, excess adhesive and bedding mortar, and the adhesive must be fully set. Remove all spacers.
  2. Combine the kit – mix by volume: 2 parts Part A compound (1 L), 1 part Part B hardener (500 mL), 5 to 7 parts Part C colour pack (5 kg). The colour pack range allows viscosity to be adjusted for conditions. Mix the full kit; part-mixing changes the ratio and the grout will not cure correctly.
  3. Apply – work the grout into the joints, compacting so they are completely filled, and remove the excess from the tile face as you go.
  4. Clean off while working – complete cleaning within 15 minutes of application, grouting and cleaning 1 to 2 square metres at a time. Wash up is with water. Once cured, removal is mechanical.
  5. Cure – allow the full cure before exposing the joints to chemicals or immersion. Confirm cure and service times with ARDEX Technical Services for pool and immersed work.

Important Notes

  • Porous, moisture-sensitive and textured tiles may require special application procedures – contact ARDEX Technical Services.
  • Joints must be dry before grouting and free from permanent dampness.
  • With textured or matt tiles, check ease of cleaning on a sample before grouting the whole area.
  • Epoxy grouts have a limited working time once mixed. Mix only what can be placed and cleaned off within it.
  • Clean off during application, not afterwards. Cured epoxy grout must be removed mechanically.
  • Colour range and coverage are maintained by ARDEX and vary by colour and tile format – confirm before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can ARDEX EG 15 be used in a swimming pool?

Yes – it is rated for swimming pools and immersed applications, internally and externally. Being a 100% solids epoxy it does not rely on cement hydration, so it resists the chemistry and constant wetting that degrade cementitious grouts in pool environments.

How do you mix ARDEX EG 15?

By volume: 2 parts Part A compound (1 L), 1 part Part B hardener (500 mL) and 5 to 7 parts Part C colour pack (5 kg). The colour pack range lets you adjust viscosity to suit conditions. Mix the full kit – part-mixing changes the ratio and the grout will not cure correctly. Clean off within 15 minutes of application, working 1 to 2 square metres at a time.

What is the difference between epoxy grout and cement grout?

An epoxy grout is a two-part resin system rather than a cement mortar. It does not absorb water, resists chemicals and staining, and does not suffer efflorescence – which makes it the standard choice for commercial kitchens, food preparation areas, laboratories and pools. The trade-off is a shorter working time and a more demanding clean-off, and that is where EG 15 differs from most epoxies: it is formulated to be exceptionally easy to clean off during application.

What joint width does ARDEX EG 15 suit?

1.5 mm to 15 mm, on floors and walls. It suits porcelain, ceramic tiles, terrazzo, slate, quarry tiles, glass and moisture-insensitive natural stones. For dimensionally unstable or moisture-sensitive stone, check with ARDEX Technical Services first.
