About Trims & edging
Metal profiles for tiled corners, step edges and doorways, most of them from DTA, with options for homes as well as commercial floors. Angle, L shape and aluminium sections do most of the everyday work, and an L shape angle runs along outside corners, benchtop edges and the top of a half height tiled wall.
At a doorway, let the neighbouring floor decide. Transition and diminishing strips take up a difference in height between two surfaces, napdown bars suit carpet edges, cover strips sit across joins and a ramp suits vinyl flooring. On stairs, choose a nosing by riser length and by the job, since short and long riser versions are made for carpet tiles, vinyl flooring or retro fitting. Bluestone and Quartz porcelain stair risers then tile the upright face of each step.
Order the setting materials with the profiles rather than after them. Tile adhesive beds the tile and the trim's perforated leg, grout fills the joints, and spacers and wedges keep grout lines consistent right up to the trim.

How do I choose the right trim size?

Do trims go in while tiling or afterwards?
Most trims are set in place as the tiles are laid. Some profiles can be fitted to finished tiling. Check the product details before you order.
What's the difference between a transition strip and a stair nosing?
A transition strip joins two floors where they meet, such as tiles to timber or carpet. A stair nosing finishes and protects the front edge of a step.
