Genuine timber veneer flooring from Sunstar, with a real wood wear layer over an engineered core that resists warping better than solid timber.
Authenticity
Unlike laminate or hybrid, the wear layer is real timber, so every board varies slightly in colour and grain.
Longevity
A solid timber surface can be sanded and refinished years later, extending the life of the floor well beyond a printed laminate.
Stability
A cross-laminated or plywood core gives the movement resistance solid timber lacks, while keeping a genuine timber face.
Range
Sunstar's Oak Classics, Le Parquet and Vogue ranges cover standard, wide board and herringbone layouts in European Oak and blackwood.
Veneer flooring has a real timber top layer glued over a cross-laminated or plywood base, giving the grain of solid boards with a core that helps resist warping. Because the surface is natural wood, every board varies in colour and grain, so the finished floor is a blend of tones.
Sunstar ranges include Oak Classics in standard, wide board and herringbone formats, Le Parquet in standard and herringbone, and a further collection of Italian named styles. Other veneer floors come in European oak and natural blackwood. Real timber reacts to large swings in temperature and moisture, so veneer needs a little more care than synthetic flooring.
Common Questions
Veneer has a genuine timber top layer glued over an engineered core, so the surface is real wood with natural colour and grain variation. Hybrid and laminate use a printed image layer instead, which looks consistent from board to board but isn’t real timber.
Yes. Because the surface is real timber, veneer reacts to large swings in temperature and humidity more than hybrid or laminate. Keep the room’s climate reasonably stable and wipe up spills promptly, the same as you would with solid timber.
Yes, a genuine timber wear layer can typically be sanded back and refinished once it shows wear, extending the floor’s life well beyond a laminate or hybrid product with a printed surface.
Sunstar’s Oak Classics range includes standard, wide board and herringbone layouts, Le Parquet comes in standard and herringbone, and the Vogue range adds further European Oak styles. Coverage per box ranges from around 1.8 to 2.9 square metres depending on the format.
Check the specific range before installing over underfloor heating, since real timber is more sensitive to heat and moisture cycling than hybrid or laminate. Ask us and we’ll confirm what your chosen Sunstar range allows.
