MJS Max Prep Feather-It provides a smooth finish coat for various substrates that
will receive a floor covering. MJS Feather-It allows for installation of most floor
coverings in as little as 30 minutes on suitable substrates like concrete, wood,
ceramic and quarry tile without a primer. It is suitable for residential and light
commercial areas.

Pre-Installation
- Concrete floors must be structurally sound, clean and free of dirt,
dust, oil, curing and sealing compounds and any other surface contaminant which may
act as a bond breaker. - Where required, mechanically clean the floor using recommended
preparation methods such as shotblasting, scarifying, diamond grinding, shaving or
other acceptable methods to a suitable surface. - Acid etching is not an acceptable method of cleaning the subfloor.
- Do not use solvents or sweeping compounds.
- Subfloor temperatures must be a minimum of 10°C.
How to Mix
- Depending on site conditions, applicators preference and the finished
surface requirements 4.5–5.0L of water to 10kg of powder. - MJS Max Prep repair products react and harden quickly when mixed with
water. - Thorough mixing in the shortest possible time is essential to ensure a
lump free, slump resistant mortar. - Always mix the powder into the water. Mechanical mixing using a mixing
paddle and electric drill will produce a creamier, smoother consistency. - Do not overwater.
How to Install
- MJS Feather-It is easily applied to any prepared surface using a steel
trowel. - Apply sufficient pressure to fill all defects and to fine the product
into the subfloor surface. - It is not necessary to leave a minimum thickness on the substrate. Use
the least amount possible to obtain the desired smoothness.
Thickness
- MJS Feather-It can be applied from a true fine edge up to 3mm in one
application.
Pot Life
- Approximately 18 minutes at 23 °C.
Installation of Flooring
- As soon as the MJS Feather-It can be walked on without damaging the
surface (approx 30 minutes), floorcoverings such as vinyl, carpet and ceramic tile
can be installed. - When installing a skim coat of MJS Feather-It over non-porous surfaces
such as ceramic tiles or vinyl, always refer to the adhesive supplier for their
recommended installation procedure.
Coverage
- As a concrete skim coat up to 30m2 can be achieved and even more over
plywood. At 1mm 20m2 can be achieved over concrete.
Storage
- MJS Feather-It has a shelf life of 12 months if stored in dry
conditions in unopened packaging.
Health and Safety
- MJS Feather-It contains Portland cement.
- Avoid generation of dust.
- Do not inhale dust.
- Avoid contact with eyes or skin.
- Wear suitable protective gloves and safety glasses.
- In case of contact with eyes, rinse opened eye for several minutes
under running water. - In case of contact with skin, rinse affected areas thoroughly with
running water. - If dust is inhaled, remove to fresh air, ensure breathing passages are
clear, and rinse mouth with running water. - If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.
