Description

Most non-slip treatments etch the surface or leave a visible film. Stellmann Non-Slip Clear PRO takes a different approach: a clear, satin, water-based polyurethane coating that adds grip to the floor you already have. It is the same system Stellmann’s certified installers use on hospital entrances, hotel pool surrounds and transport platforms, packaged here as a DIY kit for 1.2, 5 or 15 square metres.

The coating is independently tested by CSIRO to AS 4586:2013 using the wet pendulum method, with P3, P4 and P5 ratings on file, and carries European R11 and R13 ratings plus a DIN EN 16165 Class C barefoot classification. Unlike acid-based treatments it does not attack the tile, so it suits glazed porcelain, natural stone, vinyl, epoxy, metal and even glass floor panels once primed.

Where to Use

  • P3: residential showers, bathrooms and kitchens, interior stairs, toilet and bathroom facilities in offices and hotels
  • P4: outdoor entry areas, walkways, external ramps and sloping driveways, balconies and verandas, pool surrounds
  • P5: external ramps steeper than 1 in 14, loading docks under cover, commercial kitchens exposed to grease, pedestrian crossings
  • Glazed and unglazed tiles, ceramics, marble, travertine, bluestone and other natural stone
  • Vinyl and lino, epoxy and polyurethane floors, fibreglass, steel and glass panels

How to Apply

  1. Clean — wash the floor with Stellmann Prep and Maintenance Cleaner until all foaming stops, rinse and let it dry completely.
  2. Prime — dilute Stellmann Clear Primer 1:1 with water and apply a thin, even film with a sponge or microfibre cloth. Allow about 30 minutes to cure.
  3. Mix — stir Part A for 5 minutes, then weigh 5 parts Part A to 1 part Part B on a precision scale and mix mechanically for 5 minutes. For P5, add 3% Stellmann P5 particles by weight. Mix only what you will use within 2 hours.
  4. Roll — work in sections bordered by grout lines or masking tape. Apply one even coat with a Stellmann PRO roller at 72 g/m² or more, finishing each section in the same direction without pressure.
  5. Cure — keep the floor dry and unused for 12 hours, and avoid harsh cleaning for 5 days.

The full guide, including spray application, is in the installation manual under the Documents tab.

Important Notes

  • Mixing by volume or without a scale voids the warranty; the product is denser than water.
  • Only Stellmann PRO rollers are covered by the finish and slip-rating warranty. Other rollers must be tested first.
  • Not recommended for permanently immersed surfaces such as pool interiors.
  • Part B (Hardener B) contains isocyanates and can cause an allergic skin reaction. Wear gloves and read the Safety Data Sheet before use.

Frequently asked questions

Which slip rating do I need for a shower or bathroom?

P3 is the rating Stellmann specifies for residential showers, bathrooms, kitchens and interior stairs. P4 is for outdoor entries, walkways, balconies and ramps, and P5 for ramps steeper than 1 in 14, loading docks and commercial kitchens. The P5 kit is the P4 coating with Stellmann P5 particles added at 3% by weight.

How much area does a Stellmann Non-Slip Clear PRO kit cover?

The minimum spreading rate is 72 grams of mixed coating per square metre, which is 60 g of Part A and 12 g of Part B. The 1.2, 5 and 15 square metre kits are sized to that rate. For high-traffic floors Stellmann recommends increasing coverage to 85 to 100 g per square metre, so allow a larger kit.

Do I need a primer before applying Non-Slip Clear PRO?

Yes. Stellmann Clear Primer, diluted 1:1 with water, is applied first on every substrate to warrant adhesion. It cures in about 30 minutes and the coating must go on within 8 hours of priming.

How long before I can walk on the coated floor?

The coating is touch dry in about 60 minutes, tack free in 90 to 180 minutes and takes light pedestrian traffic after 12 hours at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity. Full chemical cure takes 5 days, so avoid harsh cleaners and heavy loads until then.
