Description
Bedrock Blue Metal 10mm is a crushed dark aggregate screened to a nominal 10mm size. “Blue metal” is a common Australian trade name for crushed dark aggregate, from its blue-grey colour; there is no metal in it.
Use it as the coarse aggregate in a concrete mix, or as free-draining backfill around pipes and in drainage layers. As a single-size stone it does not compact into a firm base; use a road base or a crushed rock with fines for that.
It is a functional aggregate rather than a decorative stone. The 20kg bag suits smaller jobs that do not need a loose load.

Where to Use
- Drainage applications
- Concrete production as coarse aggregate
- Backfill around pipes and behind small retaining walls
How to Apply
- Prepare the area – excavate or prepare the trench or fill area as required.
- Place the aggregate – spread or backfill to the required depth.
- Settle the layer – rake level; single-size stone does not compact into a firm base.
- Grade for drainage – ensure adequate fall where used in a drainage application.
- Combine into concrete mix – where used as aggregate, combine with sand and cement per the mix design.
Important Notes
- A functional aggregate, not a decorative product.
- Adequate fall is needed for drainage applications to work effectively.
- Store dry.
- Crushed stone and sand contain crystalline silica. Keep the material damp when spreading or sweeping, avoid breathing the dust, and wear a P2 mask if it is dry and dusty.
- Pickup only, from our Keilor East yard.
