Description
Aggregate 40-60mm is a coarse rubble product sold as 40mm aggregate. It is supplied for road ballast and bulk fill, and it is free of fines, so water passes through it freely.
Because it contains no fine material, the large stones interlock without binding tightly the way a graded crushed rock does. It is normally used as a base or fill layer, with a finer material spread over the top where a smooth or compacted surface is needed.

Where to Use
- Road ballast

- Free-draining layers behind walls and around drainage
How to Apply
- Prepare the base – excavate to the depth needed and remove soft material.
- Spread the aggregate – lay it in even layers across the area.
- Settle it – walk or roll it so the stones seat against each other.
- Add a finer layer – cover with crushed rock or topping if a finished surface is needed.
Important Notes
- No fines means it will not bind into a firm surface by itself.
- Sold in quarter cubic metre steps.
- Available for pickup from Keilor East.
- Crushed stone and sand contain crystalline silica. Keep the material damp when spreading or sweeping, avoid breathing the dust, and wear a P2 mask if it is dry and dusty.
