Description

Penetrene Bulk is a petroleum-distillate based protectant, lubricant and rust penetrator, supplied in a 5 litre bulk pack for workshops and trades going through enough product that single small cans aren’t practical. As a red oil with a characteristic petroleum odour, it works the way most penetrating oils do — creeping into threads and seized joints to free them, then leaving a residual film that slows further corrosion.

Being classified as a combustible liquid with a 70°C closed-cup flash point means it needs the same storage discipline as other petroleum-based workshop products: away from heat, sparks and open flames, and kept cool and ventilated. It’s not classified as a Dangerous Good for road or rail transport under the ADG Code, but it is still a hazardous product under GHS and should be handled with that in mind.

Where to Use

  • Freeing seized nuts, bolts, fittings and mechanical joints
  • General metal protection against corrosion
  • Workshop and trade environments needing bulk-pack quantities

How to Apply

  1. Ventilate the work area — use in a well-ventilated space and avoid breathing vapours or spray mist.
  2. Apply to the target fitting — apply directly to the seized or corroding joint.
  3. Allow it to penetrate — give the oil time to work into the thread or joint before attempting to move it.
  4. Store correctly after use — reseal and store away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight.

Important Notes

  • May be fatal if swallowed and enters the airway (aspiration hazard) — do not induce vomiting if swallowed; seek immediate medical attention.
  • Combustible liquid — keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources.
  • Repeated skin exposure may cause dryness or cracking; wear appropriate PPE.
  • In case of fire, use foam, water spray, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide, sand or earth for small fires.

Buying Penetrene as a 5 litre bulk pack rather than individual small aerosol or trigger-spray cans is mainly a cost and workflow decision for a busy workshop: refilling a smaller reusable oiler or spray bottle from a bulk container works out cheaper per application and cuts down on packaging waste compared with buying single-use cans repeatedly. The trade-off is that bulk handling puts more of the safety burden on correct storage and dispensing practice, since a 5 litre container holds far more combustible liquid on site at once than a small aerosol would.
