Description
TreadRite is a textured, acrylic based, UV stable coating from Dy-Mark that Dy-Mark describes as being for creating durable, slip resistant surfaces around the home or workplace, left as a matt textured grit finish.
The data sheet records that the 1L, 4L and 10L products have been tested for compliance with AS 4586:2013, Slip resistance of new pedestrian surface materials (classification P5), and states they are suitable for use on ramps. It also notes that slip resistance depends on factors outside Dy-Mark’s control, including preparation, surface type and application.

Where to Use
Suitable surfaces: untreated timber, concrete, primed metal, brick and clay pavers and pebble finish surfaces. Suitable for:
- Entrances and exit ways
- Workshop floors, walkways, ramps and railings
- Concrete or untreated timber steps
- Primed metal surfaces, and primed metal transport and equipment treads
How to Apply
- Test and clean: always apply a test patch. Clean off dirt, grease, oil, salt and chemical contaminants, and remove loose rust and flaking paint. Sand smooth, hard or glossy surfaces.
- Prepare the substrate: etch all concrete surfaces as the data sheet recommends, and let new concrete cure for 4 to 6 weeks. Prime bare metal, and seal highly porous surfaces with one coat of an appropriate sealer.
- Stir thoroughly with a flat stirrer before and often during use. Do not use mechanical stirrers.
- Apply with a good quality brush or a roller with a 5 mm to 13 mm nap, with adequate ventilation during application and drying.
- Clean up brushes, rollers and equipment with Xylene or General Purpose Thinner.
Important Notes
- Apply only when air and surface temperature is between 10 and 40 degrees C and relative humidity does not exceed 85%.
- Not suitable for areas around salt water, continuous water immersion, or decorative applications.
- The data sheet says Dy-Mark recommends you undertake your own risk assessment, considering the slip resistance required, surface type, traffic and exposure to water, solvents or chemicals, and that a sample should be applied to the intended area first.
Safety and handling
- As stated on the data sheet: maintain adequate ventilation during application and drying. Store in a well-ventilated place and keep cool. Keep out of reach of children.
