Description
Sika’s SikaTile-110 Secure Proof is a Class III flexible under-tile waterproofing membrane for walls and typical wet-area substrates, including structural plywood. Class III flexibility matters where a substrate might move slightly, such as a timber floor, since a rigid membrane can crack under that movement while a flexible one accommodates it — the datasheet rates its elongation at up to 500%, which is the practical measure of how much the cured film can stretch before failing.
It is built up in coats to a defined minimum thickness rather than applied once, which is what gives a waterproofing membrane its rated performance — thickness, not just coverage, is what a flood test is checking for. It also carries BRANZ certification to AS/NZS 4654.1:2012, the Australian and New Zealand standard for external waterproofing membranes, plus a Green Star VOC content test certificate, both relevant where a project needs documented compliance rather than just a product that performs.

Where to Use
- Under-tile waterproofing on walls in wet areas

How to Apply
- Prepare the substrate — surfaces must be clean, dry and structurally sound before the first coat.
- Apply the first coat — at approximately 0.75mm wet film thickness, covering the full area including corners and penetrations.
- Apply the second coat — 1-2 hours after the first, to build up to the minimum 1.0mm dry film thickness.
- Allow to cure before tiling — 6-8 hours after the final coat, measured at 23°C and 50% relative humidity.
- Flood test if required — wait 48 hours before flood testing, and allow 3 or more days before returning the area to full service.
Important Notes
- All timings are measured at 23°C and 50% relative humidity and will vary with site conditions — treat them as a guide.
- The minimum dry film thickness of 1.0mm must be achieved for the membrane to perform as rated.
- Store unopened in an elevated, cool, dry location for up to 12 months.
