Description
Chemforce Fortifier Plus Consolidating Sealer is an impregnating, permanent consolidator and water repellent formulated for premium protection from salt spalling and freeze-thaw spalling on very porous building materials. Genuinely porous stone and masonry — travertine, sandstone, limestone, precast concrete, cast stone, terracotta, grout and porous bricks — are all specifically rated as suitable surfaces, giving it real range across both natural stone and cementitious materials.
Its non film-forming chemistry retains the material’s natural colour rather than leaving a visible coating, and it’s fully breathable, letting water vapour escape freely and avoiding the harmful moisture build-up a film-forming sealer can trap inside the material. It’s totally resistant to UV and holds up well in alkaline environments, a genuine consideration given how corrosive concrete’s naturally high pH can be to lesser sealing technologies over time.
Full cure takes up to 4 weeks to build a structure deep inside the pores of the material, with the consolidating effect increasing the surface’s strength by up to 40% — a meaningful boost, though not enough on its own to make an unsuitable, very soft stone fit for a demanding salt water or freeze-thaw environment. For surfaces in regular contact with salt water, such as the splash zone around a saltwater pool, dip sealing — fully submerging the material for a minimum of 15 seconds before installation — is required to achieve the best result.

How to Apply
- Test first — apply to a small area and allow 24 hours cure time to check results.
- Prepare the surface — ensure it’s dry, clean and free of residues, at 5–35°C.
- Apply generous coats — 2 coats on horizontal surfaces at least 10 minutes apart, or 4 lighter coats on vertical surfaces.
- Remove excess residue — polish off thoroughly with clean, white absorbent cloths before it dries.
- Allow to cure — at least 2 weeks before contact with salt water or solvents.
Important Notes
- Will not prevent acid etching or physical wear of the surface.
- Highly flammable — flash point below 23°C, classified as a Dangerous Good.
- Not suitable as a substitute for a genuine waterproofing membrane.
