About Epoxy Grouts
Epoxy grout is a reaction resin grout, coded RG under ISO 13007, made from a resin and hardener that cure by chemical reaction instead of drying like cement. The result is a dense joint that does not absorb water and resists chemicals and staining, which is why it is chosen for commercial kitchens, food preparation areas and other hard-working floors and walls.
Ardex EG 15 Epoxy Grout is a 100% solids epoxy grout for joints from 1.5 to 15mm, on floors and walls, inside or out. Ardex formulates it to be easier to clean off during application than most epoxy grouts. It is coloured with the separate Ardex EG 15 Epoxy Grout Colour Pack. Mapei Kerapoxy Easy Design is a two-component epoxy grout with BioBlock antibacterial technology for 1 to 15mm joints, supplied as a 3kg pre-dosed kit. Davco Epoxy Grout is a three-part system, with Part C sold separately, for commercial walls and floors such as kitchens, washrooms and food processing plants.
Epoxy sets hard, so work in small areas and clean excess from the tile face before it cures. Mapei Ultracolor Plus, a rapid setting, polymer modified grout that is not an epoxy, is also listed here.

Epoxy Grouts FAQ
When should I use epoxy grout instead of cement grout?
Choose epoxy where hygiene, chemicals or frequent washing matter, such as commercial kitchens, food preparation areas and washrooms. Davco notes that its Sanitized Colorgrout, a cement grout, is not suited to harsh environments or hygienic areas like commercial kitchens. See Grouts for when a cement grout suits the job instead.
Is epoxy grout hard to apply?
It takes more care than cement grout. The parts must be mixed in the right ratio, the working time is limited, and excess has to come off the tile face before it cures. Ardex EG 15 and Mapei Kerapoxy Easy Design are both formulated for easier clean-up than traditional epoxy grouts, and Kerapoxy Easy Design comes pre-dosed. A hard epoxy grout float helps.
What joint widths suit epoxy grout?
Check the data sheet for each product. Mapei Kerapoxy Easy Design suits joints from 1 to 15mm, and Ardex EG 15 from 1.5 to 15mm, on walls and floors. Ardex lists EG 15 for ceramic tiles, porcelain and natural stone that is not moisture sensitive. For much wider joints on rustic or large format tiles, look at a wide joint cement grout such as Ardex WJ50 Wide Joint Grout.
