Description

Engineered European Oak with 1.2mm Veneer, Budget without Compromise Wardell 12mm carries that through in Sunstar’s Oak Classics – 12mm Builders range, with brown tones and a traditional feel.

A European Oak timber board, 12mm thick, with a light brush matte finish and Droplock installation. It’s made by Sunstar Flooring, who supply the Oak Classics – 12mm Builders range through Multifors.

Behind the colour and finish, 001 Wardell’s real numbers are what determine how it holds up in daily use — a 1.2mm wear layer, a 5 Star acoustic rating and P3 slip resistance together give a genuine read on performance rather than just first impressions. Underneath, it’s built on a Multi-Ply Engineered Core core with UV Cured surface protection, a combination that’s what keeps a floor like this performing consistently from the first box to the last rather than varying noticeably across a larger room. Each box covers 2.888 m² across 8 planks | 30% nested lengths, making it straightforward to work out how many boxes a given room actually needs once its area is measured.

  3. Clean Surface — Ensure the subfloor is free of debris and structurally sound.
  4. Leveling — Limit rises and falls to a maximum of 3mm over a 1000mm radius. Smooth imperfections to ensure a maximum 1mm deviation over 250mm area.

Care & Maintenance

Even furnishings that aren’t moved often should have a suitable no scratch surface in contact with the flooring.

Under desk chairs or other wheeled furnishings use a non- staining mat and rubber casters. Although be aware rubber will cause staining to the surface of the floor over time, so again select mats without rubber backing.

Be aware like your skin timber can tan in the sun, timber naturally oxidizes in the sun and coatings fade, this is a natural ageing process of a natural product. This should be managed by moving furnishings from time to time to avoid uneven colour changes.

Frequently asked questions

How many boxes of 001 Wardell do I need?

Each box of 001 Wardell covers 2.888 m2 and holds 8 planks. Divide your floor area by 2.888, add about 10 percent for offcuts, then round up to the next whole box. A 20 m2 room works out at 8 boxes. The calculator on this page does the same maths for you. The box is packed with 30% nested lengths, so plank lengths vary and the finished floor avoids a repeating join pattern.

Is 001 Wardell suitable for wet areas?

No. 001 Wardell uses a multi-ply engineered core, which is a timber-based board, so it should be kept out of bathrooms, laundries and anywhere subject to standing water. Spills elsewhere should be wiped up rather than left to sit.

How thick is the wear layer on 001 Wardell?

001 Wardell has a 1.2mm wear layer over a multi-ply engineered core. The wear layer is the part that takes the traffic, and at 1.2mm it is substantial enough that the floor is not living on its surface coating alone.
