Description
Metal and plastic nosing strips need drilling, gluing and eventually replacing, and they rarely suit a bluestone step or a curved landing. Stellmann Stair Nosing Coating rolls a compliant, slip-resistant nosing straight onto the tread instead. It is the Aqualine PU PRO two-pack polyurethane system in three contrast colours, so it brings the same chemical and mechanical resistance to stairs that are walked on all day.
The coating carries a P4 wet pendulum rating, P5 with Stellmann particles, and the Traffic Black, White and Yellow colours provide the luminance contrast required for stair nosings under AS 1428.1, alongside the slip-resistance provisions of AS 4586 and AS 4663. Because it is a coating, it also works as demarcation lines on platform edges and walkway markings.

How to Apply
- Clean — remove dust, oil, release agents and laitance; concrete must be at least 28 days old and under 3% moisture.
- Mask and prime — tape the nosing line, then on tiles, stone, glass or metal apply Stellmann Clear Primer with a sponge and allow about 30 minutes.
- Mix — weigh 5 : 1 on a precision scale and mix mechanically; stir in Stellmann particles if a P5 finish is required.
- Apply — roller or HVLP spray in one even coat; second coat after 120 minutes if the substrate is dark or porous.
- Cure — trafficable in about 24 hours, fully cured in 3 to 7 days.
Important Notes
- Light colours over dark treads usually need the second coat.
- Keep wet film thin; heavy films can trap CO₂ bubbles in polyurethane coatings.
- Hardener B contains isocyanates; wear gloves and read the Safety Data Sheet.
- Removable with Stellmann Coating and Paint Stripper.
