Description

Sika’s Lanko 751 Lankolatex SBR is a styrene-butadiene rubber latex admixture for cement-based renders, screeds and repair mortars. Mixed in with the mortar, it improves the bond strength, compressive strength, flexibility and water resistance of the finished mix over a plain cement blend, which matters on substrates that flex slightly or take repeated wetting. It can also improve workability, making a stiff repair mortar easier to mix and place on site.

Trade users reach for an SBR latex like this one whenever a screed, render, patch or repair needs to grip an existing substrate more reliably than cement alone, without moving to a full polymer-modified system. It is compatible with both the Lanko and Davco ranges of cement-based technical mortars, tile adhesives and grouts, so it slots into whichever of those systems is already being used on the job.

Where to Use

  • As a bonding and flexibility additive in cement-based renders and screeds
  • Mixed into repair mortars on substrates needing improved adhesion
  • As an additive for Davco cement-based tile adhesives and grouts
  • As a bonding coat with neat cement ahead of a mortar system, on very porous or difficult substrates

How to Apply

  1. Prepare the surface — it must be dry, structurally sound, clean and free of dust, oil, wax, mastic, paint and other contaminants. Remove release agents from tilt-up slabs, and scabble painted surfaces to expose at least 80% of the original substrate.
  2. Confirm cure age — new concrete needs a minimum six-week cure, and newly rendered surfaces their own curing period, before applying a Lankolatex 751-modified coat.
  3. Prime very porous surfaces — where needed, apply Lankolatex 751 as a neat cement bonding coat before the main mortar system.
  4. Mix into the mortar — add Lankolatex 751 to the cement blend following the ratio for the specific render, screed, repair mortar, tile adhesive or grout being used.
  5. Apply and clean up — place and finish using standard trade technique, and clean tools and equipment with water while the product is still wet.

Important Notes

  • Do not use below 5°C or above 40°C.
  • Not recommended for bonding plastic or rubber.
  • Store in the original sealed container, out of direct sun, between 4°C and 35°C.
  • For full mixing ratios with a specific Lanko or Davco product, refer to that product’s own datasheet.
