Description
Polywoven floor and carpet protection is the wide-format option for covering large areas quickly. It comes in two roll formats, an 1830 millimetre width running 100 metres for 183 square metres, and a 4 metre centrefolded roll at 50 metres for 200 square metres.
The centrefolded format is the one worth knowing about: it opens out to four metres, so an open-plan area or a corridor run can be covered in a single pass rather than taped together from narrow strips.

Why Roll Width Matters
Every seam in floor protection is a place where the material can shift, rucking up underfoot or letting grit through to the floor beneath. The fewer seams, the better the protection performs and the less taping the job takes.
That is the argument for the centrefolded roll. At four metres open it covers an open-plan area or a wide corridor in a single pass, where an 1830 millimetre roll would need two runs and a taped seam down the middle of the traffic route.

- Large open areas where a wide roll reduces seams
- Corridors and circulation routes taking heavy foot traffic
- Any area where taping many narrow strips would be impractical
How to Apply
- Clean the floor — Vacuum or sweep the surface before laying. Grit underneath is what damages floors.
- Choose the roll — Use the 4 metre centrefolded roll for open areas and the 1830mm roll for corridors and narrower runs.
- Roll out — Unroll across the area, keeping runs in the same direction to minimise seams.
- Tape the seams — Secure seams and edges so the material cannot shift or rucking underfoot.
- Remove — Lift at the end of the programme.
Important Notes
- Fewer seams means fewer failure points. Choose the widest roll the space allows.
- Protection is only effective over a clean floor, so vacuum before laying.
- Where impact rather than abrasion is the risk, a rigid protection board is the better choice.
Protection Choices on a Site
Woven sheet protection is the right answer for broad coverage against dust, foot traffic and abrasion. It is not the answer for impact. Where tools or materials are going to be dropped, a rigid protection board takes that load where a woven sheet will not.
Most sites end up using both: board through the areas where trades are actively working, and woven sheet across circulation routes and finished areas that simply need covering for the duration.
