Description
Where two floors finish at different heights, the choice is between a step and a ramp. This DTA transition ramp is the ramp: a long, gradual aluminium profile that takes the rise out over 74 to 110 millimetres rather than presenting an edge to catch a toe on.
It comes in three rises and is supplied in 3 metre lengths. Because the ramp length grows with the rise, the gradient stays consistent across the range, which is what keeps it comfortable underfoot at every size.

Ramp or Edge, and Why the Gradient Matters
A transition edge takes a height change in one step and protects the exposed edge of the floorcovering. A ramp spreads the same rise over a much longer run so there is no step at all. Which one you need depends on whether the priority is protecting the floor edge or removing a trip hazard.
The ramp lengths here are what make the difference. An 8 millimetre rise ramps over 74 millimetres, a 12 millimetre rise over 110 millimetres, so the gradient stays consistent as the rise grows. A profile that kept the same ramp length at every height would get progressively steeper and less comfortable.
Where to Use
- Transitions between floors finishing at different heights
- Doorways and thresholds where a trip hazard needs removing
- Commercial floors subject to trolleys and wheeled traffic
- Accessible routes where a gradual transition is required
How to Apply
- Measure the rise — Establish the height difference between the two finished surfaces, then pick the matching rise.
- Cut to length — Cut the 3 metre length to suit the opening.
- Fix down — Fix the ramp so it sits flat on both surfaces with no rocking.
- Add grip if needed — Where extra traction is wanted, apply Gecko Grip 25mm tape along the ramp face.
Important Notes
- Choose the rise to match the actual height difference. A ramp that is too shallow leaves a lip, and one too tall rocks.
- The yellow finish and yellow grip tape exist for high-visibility applications where the transition must be seen.
- Wear safety glasses and gloves when cutting aluminium.
