Description
Max Bond 2012 VPA is a hard-setting, full-cure adhesive built from a high-performance polymer blend, formulated for the installation of commercial and domestic PVC planks and tiles, with excellent plasticiser resistance that keeps it non-staining under vinyl over the long term. Its quick initial grab gives real confidence during installation that planks and tiles are staying put as the adhesive works toward full cure.
Being suitable for use over absorbent heated subfloors, per AS1884-2012 clause 4.1.3’s heating shutdown guidance, extends where it can be specified into underfloor-heated installations. At up to 5m² per litre using a V1 notched trowel and a tack-up time of approximately 15 minutes at 20°C, it’s straightforward to plan material quantities and installation pacing for a job.
Its hard-setting, full-cure formulation is what distinguishes Max Bond 2012 from a pressure-sensitive adhesive — once fully cured it forms a rigid bond rather than remaining tacky, which suits the more demanding performance requirements of commercial PVC plank and tile installations as well as domestic use. The high-performance polymer base delivers the same plasticiser resistance and quick initial grab found across the Max Bond vinyl adhesive range, while remaining low VOC for indoor air quality.
Whether it’s being used on commercial-grade PVC planks or domestic sheet vinyl, running a small site test first remains good practice, and cleaning tools immediately with warm soapy water avoids the extra step of needing a solvent cleaner once the adhesive has dried.

How to Apply
- Prepare the substrate — dry, smooth, sound and clean, free of wax, grease and hydrostatic pressure.
- Prime if needed — highly absorbent wooden or concrete subfloors should be primed with Max Bond Primer first.
- Test moisture — confirm concrete moisture content per AS/NZ Standard 1884 before installation.
- Apply the adhesive — spread with a suitable notched trowel.
- Lay the flooring — press planks or tiles into the adhesive within the tack-up window.
