Description
Mapei Ultraplan Renovation is designed for the refurbishment of existing floors, levelling, smoothing and filling differences in thickness before a new floorcovering is laid. It is a fibre-reinforced self levelling compound that is mixed with water and placed by hand or by pump in a single application from 3 to 40 mm. Made by Mapei, it is a product for professional use.
The data sheet lists it for interior levelling, smoothing and filling over new or existing concrete, screeds, stone, terrazzo, ceramic tiles, timber floors, floor boards, chipboard, plywood and parquetry.

Where to Use
Used for interior levelling, smoothing and filling of differences in thickness from 3 to 40 mm on:
- New or existing concrete and screeds
- Stone, terrazzo and ceramic tiles
- Old and new timber floors and floor boards
- Chipboard panels and plywood
- Parquetry
How to Apply
- Prepare the substrate. It should be solid and free of dust, loose particles, paint, oil, gypsum residues or other contamination. Concrete or cementitious surfaces need a minimum surface rating of CSP #3, and cementitious surfaces that are not sufficiently compacted must be removed or, where possible, consolidated with Prosfas or Mapeproof 1K Turbo. Timber must be clean and solidly fixed.
- Prime. Use Mapeprim SP or Eco Prim T Plus, or Eco Prim Grip on timber and particle board substrates. Check the humidity content with a carbide hygrometer or an electric moisture meter first.
- Mix. Pour a 20 kg bag into a bucket holding 3.4 to 3.6 litres of clean water and mix with a low speed electric mixer to a lump free mix. After 2 to 3 minutes of slackening, restir. Do not add more water once the mix has begun to set.
- Pour and spread. Apply in a single coat from 3 to 40 mm. Use each batch within 30 to 40 minutes at 23 degrees C. A spiked roller may be used to minimise aeration.
- Allow for movement and clean up. Follow all movement joints present in the substrate and form control joints on large areas. Clean hands and tools with water while the product is wet.
Important Notes
- Application temperature range is 5 degrees C to 30 degrees C. Open joints in timber substrates should be sealed and cracks repaired.
- Some brands of chipboard carry wax coatings or sealers, which the data sheet says must be removed by mechanical means before priming.
- Store in a dry, elevated area in the original unopened packaging for up to 12 months.
Safety and handling
As stated in the data sheet: the product contains cement, which in contact with sweat or other bodily fluids causes irritant alkaline reactions and allergic reactions to those predisposed. During use wear protective gloves and goggles and take the usual precautions for handling chemicals. If the product comes in contact with the eyes or skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention. The data sheet refers to the Safety Data Sheet for complete information on safe use.
