Description
Ultrabond P990 1K is a one-component, solvent-free, ready-to-use polyurethane adhesive built for bonding interlocking prefinished multilayer parquet and traditional interlocking solid wood floors. Its standout advantage over a traditional two-component adhesive is yield: low viscosity and smooth trowel application, even at low temperatures, give it over 30% higher coverage from the same volume — a genuine cost and logistics advantage on a large flooring job.
Being one-component also removes the hardener-mixing step entirely, which means no pot life to race against and the ability to reuse leftover product on a later job if stored correctly — a real practical difference from a 2K system where unused mixed adhesive simply has to be discarded. It’s also specifically noted as suitable for installers who are allergic to epoxy-polyurethane products, a genuine consideration in a trade where repeated chemical exposure is an occupational health concern.

Where to Use
- Interlocking prefinished multilayer parquet, slats, planks and lamparquet
- Cementitious and anhydrite screeds, and screeds made with Mapecem or Topcem
- Existing wooden floors, ceramics, marble and terrazzo
- Heated substrates
How to Apply
- Check substrate moisture — confirm the screed’s moisture content complies with local regulations; use a waterproofing primer if not fully dry.
- Install a vapour barrier — where there’s risk of rising damp, before applying the screed.
- Apply the adhesive — spread evenly across the substrate, no mixing required.
- Lay the flooring within the open time — press interlocking parquet or timber into the adhesive within approximately 110 minutes.
- Allow to set — light foot traffic after approximately 12 hours.
Important Notes
- Not recommended for prefinished solid wood with varnish on the underside, or traditional solid wood parquet without interlocking.
- Ensure rooms have appropriate windows or closures before installation for ventilation.
- Seal leftover product tightly with a zip tie to prevent surface skin formation before reuse.
The higher yield Ultrabond P990 1K delivers over a comparable two-component adhesive isn’t just a cost figure on a datasheet — it’s a genuine reduction in how much adhesive needs to be transported, stored and disposed of on a large parquet job, which matters as much for site logistics as it does for the material budget itself.
