Ultrabond P990 1K bonds interlocking prefinished multilayer parquet and traditional solid wood floors, offering over 30% higher yield than two-component adhesives with no hardener to mix and reusable leftover product.

Description

Ultrabond P990 1K is a one-component, solvent-free, ready-to-use polyurethane adhesive built for bonding interlocking prefinished multilayer parquet and traditional interlocking solid wood floors. Its standout advantage over a traditional two-component adhesive is yield: low viscosity and smooth trowel application, even at low temperatures, give it over 30% higher coverage from the same volume — a genuine cost and logistics advantage on a large flooring job.

Being one-component also removes the hardener-mixing step entirely, which means no pot life to race against and the ability to reuse leftover product on a later job if stored correctly — a real practical difference from a 2K system where unused mixed adhesive simply has to be discarded. It’s also specifically noted as suitable for installers who are allergic to epoxy-polyurethane products, a genuine consideration in a trade where repeated chemical exposure is an occupational health concern.

Consumption 800-1000 g/m²
Packaging 15kg and 7kg aluminium bags in plastic bucket; cartons of 20 x 600ml sausages
Storage 12 months, sealed, below +25°C

Where to Use

  • Interlocking prefinished multilayer parquet, slats, planks and lamparquet
  • Cementitious and anhydrite screeds, and screeds made with Mapecem or Topcem
  • Existing wooden floors, ceramics, marble and terrazzo
  • Heated substrates

How to Apply

  1. Check substrate moisture — confirm the screed’s moisture content complies with local regulations; use a waterproofing primer if not fully dry.
  2. Install a vapour barrier — where there’s risk of rising damp, before applying the screed.
  3. Apply the adhesive — spread evenly across the substrate, no mixing required.
  4. Lay the flooring within the open time — press interlocking parquet or timber into the adhesive within approximately 110 minutes.
  5. Allow to set — light foot traffic after approximately 12 hours.

Important Notes

  • Not recommended for prefinished solid wood with varnish on the underside, or traditional solid wood parquet without interlocking.
  • Ensure rooms have appropriate windows or closures before installation for ventilation.
  • Seal leftover product tightly with a zip tie to prevent surface skin formation before reuse.

The higher yield Ultrabond P990 1K delivers over a comparable two-component adhesive isn’t just a cost figure on a datasheet — it’s a genuine reduction in how much adhesive needs to be transported, stored and disposed of on a large parquet job, which matters as much for site logistics as it does for the material budget itself.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Ultrabond P990 1K have a higher yield than 2K adhesives?

Its low viscosity and smooth application under the trowel — even at low temperatures — give it a yield over 30% higher than traditional two-component products, meaning more coverage from the same volume of adhesive.

Can leftover Ultrabond P990 1K be reused?

Yes, when stored properly — since it’s a one-component, ready-to-use adhesive without a hardener to mix in, unused portions don’t have the pot-life constraints a two-component adhesive would have.

How soon can the floor take light foot traffic?

After approximately 12 hours, with an open time (skin formation) of around 110 minutes to work within during installation.
