Description
Where two floors meet at slightly different heights, a cover strip bridges the gap without the fuss of a full transition system. The MJ13 Hammered cover strip is the textured option in the MJS range, a 32 millimetre wide aluminium extrusion in a 3.3 metre length.
The hammered finish is practical as much as decorative: it disguises the scuffing that a plain strip shows in a doorway, which is where cover strips take most of their wear.

Choosing Between the Cover Strip Profiles
The MJS cover strip range covers four profiles that look similar and suit different jobs. Rippled at 30 millimetres and Hammered at 32 millimetres both suit domestic floors with up to 3 millimetres of height variation. Senior at 33 millimetres handles up to 6 millimetres domestically.
Commercial at 38 millimetres wide and 3.66 metres long is the one rated for commercial use at up to 6 millimetres. Choosing on width alone is the common mistake, because the rated height variation is what determines whether the strip sits flat.

How to Apply
- Measure and cut — Cut the cover strip to the length required for the opening.
- Choose the fixing — Use rippletrim nails on timber subfloors, or concrete nails on a slab. Nails are sold separately.
- Fix down — Hammer the nail down until the trim is held firmly, without defacing the surface.
- Check the fit — The strip should sit flat across both surfaces with no rocking.
Important Notes
- Recommended for domestic use on floors with height variation up to 3mm. For up to 6mm, the Senior profile suits better.
- Wear safety glasses and gloves when cutting or drilling aluminium.
- Fixings are sold separately and should match the subfloor type.
Ordering and Finishes
Each strip is supplied in a 3.3 metre length, which covers a standard doorway with material to spare and can be cut down. Measure the opening and allow for the strip to sit under the architrave where that is how the door is trimmed.
Five anodised finishes are available, being Black, Bronze, Champagne, Pewter and Silver, plus an un-anodised mill finish. Anodised finishes are applied at the factory, so strips ordered at different times for one job still match once installed.
