Description
G3 EVA Floating Floor 3mm Acoustic Underlay is built from ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer, tested and rated for use exclusively under floating hardfloors such as laminate and timber. It carries a 5-star acoustic rating under the AAAC scheme, backed by an impact sound insulation improvement of ΔL,w = 17dB — a figure that holds consistently across the tested flooring range rather than only at one thickness.
An integrated 100 micron polyethylene moisture barrier is bonded into the underlay, with a 200mm overlap where rolls join, giving it a water vapour transmission rate of 1.49g/m²/24hr under ASTM E96 testing. That’s a real practical consideration for floating floors over concrete, where residual slab moisture can otherwise migrate up into the flooring above if the barrier is inadequate or the overlap isn’t sealed correctly.

Where to Use
- Under floating laminate flooring
- Under floating engineered or solid timber flooring
- Multi-residential and commercial projects with acoustic rating requirements
How to Apply
- Prepare the subfloor — ensure it is clean, dry and free of debris before laying.
- Roll out the underlay — position across the full floor area.
- Overlap the moisture barrier — join rolls with the specified 200mm overlap to maintain the vapour barrier’s integrity.
- Lay the floating floor — install the laminate or timber flooring directly over the prepared underlay.
Important Notes
- Rated for floating hardfloor applications only — not intended for carpet or other flooring types.
- Published acoustic ratings are based on a specific tested assembly (200mm concrete slab, 10mm suspended plasterboard ceiling, no insulation) and are indicative rather than guaranteed for every installation.
- The manufacturer reserves the right to change product specifications without notice — always check the current datasheet for the latest figures.
The 110kg/m³ density EVA core is what gives the underlay its consistent 5-star result across such a wide range of flooring thicknesses, from 8mm laminate through to 20mm solid timber — a firmer, higher-density foam compresses less under point loads, which keeps the acoustic performance from degrading as the flooring above gets heavier. That consistency matters most in multi-residential projects, where a body corporate or building certifier is often checking the installed result against a minimum required rating rather than just trusting the datasheet figure. Because the roll width is held to ±1% and the moisture barrier overlap is a fixed 200mm, installers can plan material quantities for a job fairly precisely without needing a large contingency allowance for wastage.
