Keep tools, hinges and machinery moving freely in the workshop, on site and around the home. Choose multi-use lubricant from 150g spray cans up to 20 litre containers, specialist no-drip gel and flexible silicone lubricants, and removers for stickers and sticky residue.
Squeaky garage doors, seized bolts, sticky locks and greasy engine parts each call for a different product. Here you’ll find lubricants, greases and oils alongside degreasers and parts cleaners, for maintaining vehicles, workshop gear, garden tools and household fittings.
WD-40 covers multi-use sprays and liquids. Its Specialist line adds penetrant, white lithium grease and anti fling chain lube, along with contact cleaner and citrus degreaser. Dy-Mark Protech brings brake and parts cleaners, freeze spray and air dusters, as well as graphite and lanolin lubricants. 3-IN-ONE lock, garage door and drip oil products suit smaller jobs, and heavy duty hand cleaner is sold in sizes from 250ml to 4.5 litres.

WD-40 Multi-Use is a multi-purpose spray that frees sticky mechanisms, loosens rusted bolts, displaces moisture, lubricates hinges and protects metal from rust. WD-40 says it is not a degreaser or a contact cleaner, because it leaves a light protective film behind. To strip grease, use WD-40 Specialist Fast Acting Citrus Degreaser, and for electrical parts use WD-40 Specialist Fast Drying Contact Cleaner, which dries without residue.
Choose a silicone lubricant. WD-40 recommends its Specialist High Performance Silicone when you need a clear, non-staining lubricant that is safe for most rubbers and plastics, such as window seals, pipes and belts. Specialist Flexible Silicone suits most metal, plastic, rubber and wood. WD-40 notes that some rubbers can swell after long contact with the Multi-Use product, so test any spray on a hidden spot first.
3-IN-ONE Lock Lubricant is made for lock cylinders. It penetrates the mechanism to loosen stuck parts, cleans out the dirt that causes sticking and protects against rust and corrosion. WD-40 Multi-Use can also be used: spray it into the lock, leave it to soak in, then wipe away the excess. Work the key in and out a few times so the lubricant spreads through the pins.
Use a penetrant, a thin oil made to creep into rusted threads, rather than a general lubricant. WD-40 Specialist Fast Release Penetrant is designed to loosen frozen, corroded and rusted nuts, bolts, clips and locks, and WD-40 says it can be used on metal, alloys, most rubber and plastic and most paints. Spray the thread and joint, give it time to soak in, then try again. Dy-Mark Protech Penetrating Oil is another option for seized parts.
Use grease for heavy, metal to metal parts that work outdoors or under load. WD-40 Specialist High Performance White Lithium Grease is a thick, water and heat resistant spray that will not drip or run, which suits towbars, cables, chains, gears and brake mechanisms. For garage doors, 3-IN-ONE Garage Door Lubricant is made for hinges, pulleys, springs, cables and door tracks, and is designed to resist dirt and dust.
