Description
Temporary floor protection is only as good as its seams. SupaBord Joint Tape is the tape made to hold SupaBord protection board seams together for up to 90 days, using a contractor grade hot melt adhesive that grabs instantly and stays flexible.
It is made from non-woven paper that is breathable and vapour permeable, which matters on a curing floor: a sealed tape traps moisture under the board and leaves an uneven finish behind.

Joint Tape or Edge Tape
The SupaBord range has two tapes and they are not interchangeable. Joint tape, this product, joins protection boards to each other along butt joints and long joints, and is rated for 90 days. Edge tape fixes the protection down to floors and walls and is rated for 150 days.
The other difference is the adhesive. Joint tape uses a high tack hot melt because it is bonding board to board and needs to hold under foot traffic. Edge tape uses a low to medium tack natural rubber so it releases cleanly from a finished floor or a painted wall.

How to Apply
- Unroll — Peel back the edge of the tape and begin to unroll along the joint.
- Tape the joints — Cover the butt joints and long joints between protection boards.
- Press down — Apply firm pressure and smooth the tape down as you go.
- Cut — Cut the end cleanly with a utility knife, then fold the edge back against the roll for next time.
Important Notes
- This is the joint tape. Fixing protection board to the floor or wall uses the edge tape instead.
- The breathable backing is the point on curing floors. A non-permeable tape can leave a mark in the finish.
- Rated for up to 90 days. Longer programmes need the 150 day product.
Ordering and Coverage
Each roll is 60 millimetres wide and 40 metres long. Joint tape runs along every butt joint and long joint between protection boards, so the quantity depends on how the boards are set out rather than on floor area alone. A tighter set-out with more boards means more taping.
The five roll pack suits a full floor. A single roll covers a room or a small area, and the cut edge folds back against the roll so the remainder stays usable.
