Description
Roberts 444 Pressure Sensitive Adhesive is a solvent-free product formulated for PVC-backed and modified composite backed carpet tiles, with a high 95% RH tolerance on concrete substrates that reduces the wait for a newer slab to dry before installation can begin. Being anti-microbial and low odour, alongside Green Star compliance, makes it suitable for commercial fit-outs where both hygiene and air quality during installation are genuine specification considerations.
Its dry-mode application gives real flexibility beyond a standard hard-set adhesive: allowing the adhesive to dry to a clear film before laying tiles creates a releasable bond, letting individual tiles be lifted and relaid later with a clean backing — genuinely useful on a commercial floor where occasional tile replacement is expected. Laying into the wet film instead, before it fully dries, produces a stronger, more permanent bond where that’s the priority.
Like RLA 999, Roberts 444 offers a choice between a releasable dry-mode bond for carpet tiles that may need lifting and relaying later, and a stronger permanent bond where long-term hold matters more than future flexibility — a genuine practical decision that depends on how the space is expected to be used and maintained over time. How to Apply
- Prepare the substrate — absorbent, dry, smooth, sound and clean, mechanically prepared if required.
- Prime if needed — highly absorbent concrete should be primed with Roberts R400 primer first.
- Spread the adhesive — use a long nap roller (10mm+ pile) or V1 1.6mm notched trowel.
- Choose the bond type — allow to dry clear for a releasable bond, or lay into the wet film for a stronger, more permanent bond.
- Roll the installation — roll in both directions with the recommended roller weight.
Important Notes
- Uneven concrete subfloors should be treated with the Roberts range of levelling compounds first.
- Installation must be subject to normal traffic conditions per the manufacturer’s instructions.
