Standard epoxy is too thick to properly penetrate a fine concrete crack — Megapoxy HX’s extra-low viscosity and hydrophilic chemistry are built specifically to flow into cracks under gravity or low-pressure injection where a thicker resin simply can’t reach.

Description

Megapoxy HX Extra Low Viscosity Epoxy Resin is a hydrophilic, 100% solids liquid resin formulated specifically for jobs where a standard epoxy is too thick to properly penetrate — gravity-fed or low-pressure injection repair of cracked concrete, and impregnation of porous masonry and timber. Its hydrophilic nature is the key detail: rather than being repelled by moisture in the substrate, it actively displaces it, which is what makes it viable for crack repair in conditions that aren’t perfectly dry.

Being VOC-free and easily mixed by hand at a simple 3:1 ratio makes it practical for on-site use without specialist mixing equipment, while its cured performance — superior tensile and compressive strength to concrete itself, with excellent chemical resistance — gives genuinely structural repair capability. Complying with AS/NZ 4020:2018 for drinking-water contact broadens where it can be specified into water-safe applications most general-purpose epoxies aren’t rated for.

Where to Use

  • Concrete crack repair by gravity penetration or low pressure injection
  • Impregnation of porous masonry and timber
  • Laminating resin for fibreglass work
  • Casting, surface hardening, floor repairs and capillary-action applications

How to Apply

  1. Prepare the surface — clean contact surfaces of oil, dust and contaminants; grind concrete/stone and remove debris.
  2. Measure by volume — pour the correct amount of Part A, then Part B, into a measuring tub.
  3. Mix — stir for 2 minutes, scrape the sides, then mix for a further minute until streak-free and uniform.
  4. Apply within the work time — 60 minutes; apply by brush directly onto cracks or pour using a dispensing bottle.
  5. Allow to cure — 24 hours at 25°C.

Important Notes

  • Only mix a quantity that can be used within the 60-minute work time.
  • Cures even in cold or damp conditions.
  • Uncured product can be cleaned with Megapoxy Thinners.
  • < That penetration ability is really the whole point of choosing an extra-low viscosity resin over a standard epoxy — a thicker product simply can't reach into a fine crack the way HX's thin, hydrophilic formulation can. Its VOC-free formulation also makes it a more practical choice for indoor or enclosed-space crack repair work, where a solvent-heavy resin would need much more extensive ventilation to use safely. Keeping the two components' containers clearly labelled and never cross-contaminating measuring tools between Part A and Part B is a simple discipline that avoids a batch failing to cure correctly.

Gravity-fed crack injection relies entirely on the resin’s ability to find its own way into a crack under nothing more than its own weight, which is a much harder standard to meet than simply coating a surface. Megapoxy HX’s extra-low viscosity is specifically engineered for that gravity-penetration use case, distinguishing it from general-purpose epoxies that are formulated primarily for surface coating or gap-filling rather than genuine crack-injection work.

Frequently asked questions

What is Megapoxy HX used for?

Primarily concrete crack repair by gravity penetration or low pressure injection, plus impregnation of porous substrates such as masonry and timber, and as a low viscosity laminating resin for fibreglass work.

What is the mix ratio for Megapoxy HX?

3 parts A to 1 part B by volume, packaged pre-proportioned in both the 4 litre and 20 litre kits.

Is Megapoxy HX safe for drinking-water contact?

Yes — it’s a water and food-safe contact material for commercial surfaces, complying with AS/NZ 4020:2018 testing of products for use in contact with drinking water.
