Description
Mapei’s Ultraplan is a self-levelling, ultra-quick-hardening smoothing compound for internal floors, used ahead of ceramic tile, natural stone, resilient flooring and timber coverings. Its 20-30 minute workability window and roughly 3 hour set to light foot traffic make it a genuinely fast-track product, without sacrificing the range of thickness a levelling job usually needs.
Applying from just 1mm up to 15mm in one pass covers most of what a tiler encounters between a fine skim to correct minor unevenness and a proper levelling pour over a more uneven slab, without switching products partway through the job.

Where to Use
- Internal floors ahead of ceramic tile installation
- Natural stone flooring preparation
- Resilient flooring, including vinyl, ahead of installation
- Timber and engineered wood flooring preparation
How to Apply
- Prepare the substrate — the floor must be structurally sound, clean and dry before pouring.
- Mix — combine with clean water to a smooth, pourable consistency, using the full pack promptly once mixed.
- Pour or pump — apply by trowel, rake or pump depending on the area and equipment available, working within the 20-30 minute workability window.
- Allow to set — light foot traffic is possible after approximately 3 hours.
- Lay the floor covering — wait the full 12 hours before installing tile, stone, resilient or wood flooring.
The 20-30 minute workability window is a real constraint on a larger pour: plan the area to be levelled in sections that can realistically be mixed, poured and worked within that time, rather than mixing more than can be placed before the compound starts to set.
Important Notes
- Consumption of approximately 1.6kg per m² per mm of thickness means quantity needed scales directly with the depth of the pour — measure the area and target thickness before ordering.
- Store bags in dry conditions; shelf life is 12 months.
- EMICODE EC1 R Plus and Green Star compliance make this a suitable choice where indoor air quality certification is part of the project requirements.
