Description
The Wischwiesel is Loba’s applicator for water-based maintenance products, a 140 centimetre handled tool carrying a replaceable microfibre pad. It exists because maintenance coatings are applied in a thin, even film and a mop or cloth cannot do that reliably.
The pad is the working part and is replaceable, so the tool itself lasts across many jobs while the microfibre that actually touches the floor is renewed as it wears.

Applicator, Not a Mop
Maintenance coatings for timber floors go on as a thin film. Too much product and the floor stays tacky, picks up dirt and eventually needs stripping back. Too little and coverage is patchy. The window is narrower than most people expect.
A mop cannot hit it. It holds far too much liquid and releases it unevenly as it dries out across the floor. A microfibre applicator on a handle releases at a consistent rate from the first pass to the last, which is the difference between maintaining a floor and gradually ruining one.

How to Apply
- Fit the pad — Attach a clean microfibre pad to the applicator head.
- Decant — Pour or spray the maintenance product onto the floor rather than soaking the pad.
- Spread thin — Work in even passes, keeping the film thin. Maintenance coatings are not mops-worth of liquid.
- Overlap — Keep passes overlapping slightly so no line shows where two meet.
- Wash the pad — Launder the microfibre pad after use so it is ready for the next job.
Important Notes
- The pad is a consumable. Replacements are available separately, singly or in packs of five.
- Wash pads without fabric softener, which coats the fibres and stops them releasing product evenly.
- This is an applicator, not a mop. It is for applying maintenance coatings, not for cleaning.
Applying Maintenance Products Properly
Maintenance coatings are not cleaners and are not applied like them. The floor is cleaned first and allowed to dry, and only then does the maintenance product go on, thin and even, with the applicator.
Working in overlapping passes matters. A gap between passes leaves an uncoated strip that shows as a dull line once the product dries, and going back over a drying pass to fix it usually makes the mark worse rather than better.
