Description
Loba PrimaSeal Plus is an alcohol-based primer built specifically for wooden floors, offering excellent blocking of wood ingredients and old contamination while genuinely intensifying the colour of the timber underneath. That colour-intensifying property is a real point of difference from a purely functional primer — it enhances the finished floor’s appearance rather than just preparing the surface.
Its ability to reduce the side-bonding effect of water-based finishes matters for the same reason it matters across LOBA’s other primer products: a finish that bonds boards together at their edges as well as their surface restricts the floor’s normal seasonal movement, which can eventually show up as cupping or cracking at board joints. PrimaSeal Plus’s alcohol-based chemistry gives it particularly strong blocking performance, making it a genuinely good price/performance option across virtually all European and exotic timber species.
Choosing an alcohol-based primer over a water-based one matters most on timber species prone to bleeding tannins, resins or other natural contaminants — PrimaSeal Plus’s alcohol base blocks these substances from migrating up into the finish coat far more effectively than water alone, which is exactly why it’s compatible with virtually all European and exotic timber types rather than being limited to a narrower species range. Its colour-intensifying effect is a useful secondary benefit, deepening the natural tone of the timber before the final finish goes on.

Where to Use
- Priming virtually all European and exotic timber species ahead of a water-based finish
- Floors requiring strong blocking of wood ingredients and old contamination
- Jobs wanting a genuine colour-intensifying primer step
How to Apply
- Sand and prepare the substrate — floor must be professionally sanded, dry and free of old coatings, oil, grease, wax and dust.
- Transfer to a LOBA varnish bucket — stir the material well before applying.
- Apply generously by roller — using the LOBA Universal 100 roller at 100-120 ml/m².
- Allow to dry — do not varnish over before approximately 60 minutes have elapsed.
- Apply the finish — roll on the selected LOBA water-based finish once the primer has fully dried.
Important Notes
- Do not intermediate-sand the primer coat itself.
- Optimal processing conditions are room temperature +15°C to +25°C with 40-75% relative humidity.
- Limit to a maximum of 2 roll applications per day to reduce swelling risk.
