Description
Loba EasyPrime is a polyurethane-acrylate, water-based primer purpose-built for wooden floors, applied by roller or trowel ahead of a LOBA water-based finish. Its standout feature is maximum processing reliability — no lap marks, even with critical timber species that can be prone to visible overlap lines with a lesser primer, which is what makes it suitable across practically all European and exotic timber species.
Reducing side bonding between boards is a genuinely important function beyond just priming for finish adhesion: water-based finishes can otherwise bond boards together at their edges, which restricts the floor’s natural expansion and contraction movement. EasyPrime is formulated specifically to reduce that side-bonding effect while still giving a properly laid and secured floor good overall finish adhesion.

Where to Use
- Priming sanded wooden floors before applying a water-based finish

How to Apply
- Sand the floor — the surface must be professionally sanded, dry and free of old coatings, oil, grease, wax or silicone.
- Apply by roller or trowel — use the LOBA Universal 100 roller at 100-120ml/m², or apply in two trowel coats.
- Allow to dry — roller applications dry to recoat in around 60 minutes, trowel applications in around 30 minutes.
- Intermediate sand if required — once adequate layer thickness is achieved, sand lightly and remove dust before overcoating.
- Apply the finish — roll on the LOBA water-based finish once the primer has fully dried.
Important Notes
- Optimal processing conditions are room temperature +15°C or above; apply a maximum of 2 roll applications per day.
- Clean tools and equipment immediately after use.
- Not classified as hazardous material according to ADR; no risk of frost damage during transportation.
Side bonding is a genuinely underappreciated failure mode in timber flooring finishes: when a water-based coating bonds boards together at their edges as well as on their surface, it restricts the floor’s normal seasonal expansion and contraction, which can eventually show up as cupping, peaking or cracking along board joints months after the finish was applied. EasyPrime’s specific formulation to reduce that side-bonding effect is what lets a properly laid and secured floor move as designed while still getting full finish adhesion on the surface itself.
