Adbri Brightonlite is an off-white Type HE (high early strength) cement that produces light-coloured concrete, mortar, render and grout. It gains strength faster than general purpose cement, which suits precast work such as pavers, pots and garden statues, and it takes colouring oxides well. Pair it with light sand and aggregate. 20kg bag.

Description

Brightonlite is an off-white Type HE (high early strength) cement made by Adbri for light-coloured concrete, mortar, render and grout. Its off-white base suits casting pavers, garden ornaments, statues and other precast items where the finished colour matters.

As a Type HE cement it gains strength faster than a general purpose cement, which helps where moulds need to be turned around quickly.

It takes cement colouring oxides, and its lighter base gives truer colours than grey cement. Combine it with light-coloured sand and aggregate so darker materials do not undo the lighter finish, and keep sand and aggregate from the same source across a run of precast pieces for a consistent colour.

How to Apply

  1. Choose light-coloured aggregates: pair with light-coloured sand and aggregate to keep the off-white finish.
  2. Add colouring oxide if required: mix in evenly before adding water for a tinted finish.
  3. Add water gradually: mix to a workable, even consistency.
  4. Cast or apply within working time: use before the mix begins to set.
  5. Allow early strength to develop: then strip moulds or finish as the job requires.

Important Notes

  • Wet cement is alkaline and can burn skin and eyes. Wear gloves, eye protection and a P2 mask, avoid breathing dust when opening or mixing, and wash it off skin promptly. See the Safe Work Australia guidance on cement and silica dust.
  • Cement dust can contain crystalline silica. Avoid breathing the dust, and wear a P2 mask when opening and mixing bags.
  • Pair with light-coloured sand and aggregate for the full benefit of the off-white cement.
  • Compatible with cement colouring oxides for tinted work.
  • Store sealed, off the ground and dry.

Frequently asked questions

What is Brightonlite Cement used for?

Light-coloured concrete, mortar, render and grout, and especially casting pavers, pots, statues and other precast items where an off-white finish and quick mould turnaround matter.

What does 'Type HE' mean?

High early strength, a cement type under AS 3972 that gains strength faster than general purpose cement, so precast moulds can be stripped and jobs loaded sooner.

Can Brightonlite be coloured?

Yes. Mix a cement colouring oxide evenly through the dry cement and sand before adding water; the off-white base gives a truer colour than grey cement.
