Description
7mm River Pebbles are small decorative pebbles, mainly white and cream with some grey and pinkish-brown pieces. At around 7mm they are smaller than most decorative stones in the range (20mm and up), which is what makes them useful in tight spaces: the top of a pot, a narrow strip beside a path, or the gaps around stepping stones, where a 20mm-plus stone would look clumsy.
Being stone, they don’t rot down like bark or wood chips, which need replacing as they break down. Spread over weed mat they leave a tidy, light-coloured finish that stands out in shaded corners, and an occasional bare patch only needs a small top-up. Collection is from the Keilor East yard, with delivery offered at checkout to postcodes the yard covers.

Where to Use
- Top dressing for pots and planters
- Narrow garden strips and borders beside paths
- Between pavers and stepping stones
- Decorative cover in small garden beds
- Courtyard and balcony garden features (check balcony load limits)
How to Apply
- Prepare the base – level the soil and lay weed mat, overlapping the joins.
- Edge the area – fit edging so the small pebbles stay where they are laid.
- Spread the pebbles – lay about 50mm deep in beds, covering the weed mat fully, or 20 to 30mm as a top dressing in pots.
- Rake level – rake to an even finish and brush pebbles off paving.
- Top up – rake back and top up any pebbles displaced over time.
Choosing Between Decorative Stones
- 7mm River Pebbles: small and light-coloured, for pots, narrow strips and gaps between pavers.
- River Pebble 20-45mm: larger stones for dry creek beds, pond edges and bigger feature areas.
- Ice White and Oriental Sparkle: larger decorative stones, in 20mm and 40mm sizes, for feature beds.
Important Notes
- Small loose pebbles shift underfoot, so they are better as a decorative cover than as a walked path surface; for a path choose a compacting topping.
- Ordered by the cubic metre in quarter steps: a quarter, half or three-quarter load is fine for smaller jobs.
- Loose stone is heavier than it looks, so confirm your trailer or ute payload (on the compliance plate) before ordering.
- Fine dust from stone and sand can contain crystalline silica, so dampen the load before spreading, don’t dry-sweep it, and wear a P2 mask if it is dusty. See Safe Work Australia for more on silica safety.
