Description

Readicote is a pre-primed flush internal door range with a smooth, paint-ready face. The primer gives a base for undercoat and finishing coats, so the door can be painted to match the trims once it has been fitted. The plain flush face suits both contemporary and traditional interiors.

These doors are supplied hinged and latched (H/L). The hinges are fitted and the latch is bored and fitted, to suit the matching H/L primed MDF jamb. Both left-hand and right-hand doors are stocked and are sold as matching sets with the jamb, so specify the hand when you order and buy the door and jamb together.

Choosing a Size

For a replacement, measure the existing door’s width and height and match them, and check which side it hinges on. The taller 2340mm door is often chosen for homes with higher ceilings. For new homes, the NCC Livable Housing Design Standard sets minimum clear openings for some doorways, so confirm the door width with your builder or building surveyor before ordering.

Where to Use

  • Bedroom, study and living room doors
  • Linen and storage cupboards
  • Replacement of old flush doors of the same size

How to Install

  1. Check the order: confirm the door size and handing match the matching H/L jamb and the swing you want.
  2. Trial fit: offer the door into the jamb and check clearances of about 3mm at the top and sides and enough gap at the bottom for the floor covering. Trim only within the 5mm allowance, and never on the hinge side of a pre-hinged door.
  3. Seal: remove the door and seal both faces and all edges, including the top and bottom, before hanging.
  4. Hang: hang the door in the matching jamb, check the swing, and fit the latch and handle set to the hardware instructions.
  5. Paint: prepare and paint to the paint manufacturer’s instructions, using a flat, satin or semi-gloss finish.

Important Notes

  • Pickup only from our Keilor East yard.
  • For internal use only; do not install in external openings.
  • High gloss paint can show the internal frame through a flush skin, so satin or semi-gloss is recommended.
  • Store doors flat, off the floor and in a dry area, away from freshly plastered rooms, until finished.

Frequently asked questions

What does hinged and latched (H/L) mean?

On Readicote, H/L means the hinges are fitted and the latch is bored and fitted, so the door hangs in a matching H/L jamb without cutting hinge recesses on site. Both left-hand and right-hand doors are stocked. Say which you need when you order, and order the door and jamb together as a matching set.

Which Readicote door width do I need?

Measure the existing door or the jamb opening and order the same width and height. For new homes, the NCC Livable Housing Design Standard sets minimum clear door openings for some rooms, and a door leaf gives a smaller clear opening than its own width, so check with your builder or building surveyor.

Do Readicote doors need painting?

Yes. The factory primer is a base coat, not a finish. Prepare and paint the door to the paint manufacturer’s instructions, and seal both faces and all edges, including the top and bottom, after trial fitting and before hanging.
