Cement Australia Gap Sand is a blend of graded fine sands and additives that is swept into paver joints to lock brick and block paving into place. It suits joints up to 3mm wide and is not a grout. Sweep it in, compact, mist-spray to wet it thoroughly and allow 3 days before using the paving. 20kg bag.

Description

Cement Australia Gap Sand is a blend of graded fine sands and additives designed to lock all types of brick and block paving into place. It is swept into the joints after the pavers are laid.

It suits joints up to 3mm wide. It is not designed to function as a grout and is not cement based, so it does not stay permanently firm like mortar.

Use Gap Sand for joints only, and bed the pavers on a bedding sand or stone dust first. Cement Australia does not recommend it where pavers are continually exposed to moisture, such as around a pool.

  • New paving, swept in once the pavers are laid
  • Paths, patios and courtyards that are not continually wet

How to Apply

  1. Lay the pavers: as per the paver manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Sweep in: sweep Gap Sand into all joints with a stiff broom.
  3. Compact: work a vibrating compactor, rubber mallet or similar over the whole paved area.
  4. Top up and clean off: sweep the surface thoroughly, top up joints where needed and remove all excess sand from the surface.
  5. Mist-spray: wet the whole paved surface thoroughly with a fine mist.
  6. Wait 3 days: allow 3 days for Gap Sand to bond the pavers into place before using the area.

Important Notes

  • Sand contains crystalline silica. Keep the material damp when spreading or sweeping, avoid breathing the dust, and wear a P2 mask if it is dry and dusty.
  • Not for joints wider than 3mm. It is not a grout and does not stay permanently firm like mortar.
  • Not recommended where pavers are continually exposed to moisture, for example around a pool.
  • Use for joints only; bed the pavers on a separate bedding layer.
  • Store dry.
