Description
Coatings are not forever, and a slip-resistant floor sometimes needs to be renewed or taken back to the original tile. Stellmann Coating and Paint Stripper is the remover Stellmann specifies for its own Non-Slip Clear PRO and Stair Nosing Coating, formulated without methylene chloride so it is not classed as a dangerous stripper, while still penetrating old coating and paint layers quickly and deeply.
It also handles other old coatings and paints on floors and walls, which makes the 12 litre pack a practical choice for installers preparing previously treated surfaces.

Where to Use
- Removing a Stellmann non-slip coating before recoating at a different slip rating
- Taking painted stair nosings back to bare tread
- Stripping old paint and coatings from concrete, tiles and stone before a new coating
How to Apply
- Mask — protect adjoining surfaces with tape pressed firmly to the surface.
- Apply — spread an even film over the coating at 3 to 6 m² per litre.
- Wait — allow the stripper to penetrate the layers.
- Remove — scrape or wipe away the lifted coating, then wash the surface with Stellmann Prep and Maintenance Cleaner and rinse.
Follow the dwell times and safety precautions in the Technical Data Sheet under the Documents tab.
Choosing a Pack Size
At 3 to 6 square metres per litre, a 1 litre bottle covers a single stair flight or a small bathroom floor, which is the usual scale for a domestic recoat. The 12 litre pack is the installer size and suits stripping a commercial floor, a full stairwell of nosings, or several jobs run back to back.
Coverage sits at the lower end of that range on a thick or multi-layered coating, because the stripper has to penetrate every layer before the film will lift. Estimate on 3 square metres per litre where you do not know how many coats are on the floor.
What It Will and Will Not Remove
It is formulated for Stellmann’s own Non-Slip Clear PRO and Stair Nosing Coating, and it also lifts other old coatings and paints from concrete, tile and stone. Because it is free of methylene chloride it is not classed as a dangerous stripper, which makes it usable in occupied buildings where a stronger product would not be.
That same chemistry means it works by dwell time rather than brute strength. On an unknown or heavily built-up coating, test a small area first and expect to repeat the application rather than forcing a single pass.
Important Notes
- Test on a small area first when stripping unknown coatings.
- Wear gloves and eye protection and ventilate the area.
- Clean and re-prime before applying a new Stellmann coating.
