Description
Dune Agadir Cotto Oscuro is a 9mm porcelain subway tile in a 70x280mm format with a matt finish, and it tests differently from the gloss Agadir colours. Water absorption is E ≤ 0.5%, breaking strength is above 35 N/mm², and slip resistance is Class 2 under UNE-EN 16165 Annex C, with a DCOF above 0.50 under ANSI A326.3.
The colour is a warm sandy tan, and Dune gives it the irregular relief the Agadir range takes from zellige and Berber work. It can run from a kitchen floor straight up the splashback, once the floor’s slip requirement is confirmed.

Where to Use

How to Apply
- Prepare the base: the surface must be firm, level, clean and dry, with irregularities over 2mm corrected and moisture under 2%.
- Specify C2 adhesive: as a porcelain tile, Cotto Oscuro takes a C2 cementitious adhesive; lay a trial of at least two pieces first.
- Notch the adhesive: spread a thin layer of around 3mm, rake it with a no. 3 notched trowel and place tiles before a skin forms, avoiding dab fixing.
- Set joints and spacers: 2mm minimum joints, 3mm on unstable substrates, self levelling spacers, and offsets of no more than 25%.
- Grout and maintain: fill joints at least 2mm deep, remove residue with water or neutral pH cleaner before it sets.
Colour and Finish
Matt keeps reflections low, so the relief and 21 faces read as soft tonal changes. Expect movement from pale sand to warmer tan between tiles, and blend from several boxes while laying. Arena and Amaranto are warm gloss colours in the same format.
Important Notes
- Dune reserves pool steps and pool floors under 1.5m depth for Class 3 products, so this Class 2 tile is not for them or for ramps.
- Shade varies between batches, so order the whole job from one batch.
- Results shown are Dune’s published figures.
