Description
A universal adhesive earns the name by the range it covers, and AF 171 covers most of what goes down indoors: vinyl plank, sheet vinyl on floors and walls, linoleum, direct stick and double bond carpet, and acoustic mat.
It is a water-based indoor adhesive for permanent internal installation, supplied as 18 kilograms in a 15 litre pail. Working time is around 15 to 20 minutes with a set-up time of 10 to 15, which is a comfortable window for a single operator.

Working Time and Set-Up Time
These two figures are often confused and they describe different things. Working time, around 15 to 20 minutes here, is how long the spread adhesive stays workable. Set-up time, around 10 to 15 minutes, is how long to leave it before laying the covering into it.
Getting the sequence right is what produces full transfer to the backing. Laying too early means the adhesive is too wet to grab; laying too late means it has skinned and the covering sits on top of the ridges rather than into them.

How to Apply
- Prepare the substrate — It must be clean, dry, sound and suitably prepared for a permanent internal installation.
- Choose the notch — A 1.6mm V-notch gives about 5 square metres per litre; a 0.8 by 1.6 by 0.8mm U-notch gives about 7.
- Spread — Work within the 15 to 20 minute working time.
- Allow set-up — Set-up time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes before the covering goes in.
- Lay and roll — Place the covering and roll to achieve full transfer.
