Description
A vinyl stair needs a nosing sized for the covering, not for a carpet. The MJ150 is the short riser profile made for that, designed to finish against vinyl rather than to wrap a thick pile edge.
It is designed to comply with AS 1428.1-2021, and fitted with one of the specified inserts it also meets AS 4586:2013 for slip resistance. The published luminance reflectance values are 71.94 dry and 69.17 wet in silver, which is the figure an access consultant will ask for.

Reading the Compliance Figures
Two standards apply to a commercial stair nosing and they do different things. AS 1428.1-2021 covers accessibility, including the luminance contrast between the nosing and the tread, which is why the reflectance values are published. AS 4586:2013 covers slip resistance.
The distinction matters when specifying. The profile is designed to meet the accessibility standard on its own, but slip resistance comes from the insert fitted into the channel. A nosing installed without an insert does not deliver AS 4586 compliance.

How to Apply
- Measure and cut — Cut the 3.66 metre length to the tread width.
- Position — Set the nosing so the short riser finishes cleanly against the vinyl.
- Fix — Fix through the pre-drilled countersunk holes at 220mm centres. Screws and plugs sold separately.
- Fit the insert — Install the 50mm insert into the 51mm channel for slip resistance compliance.
- Remove the foil — Peel the protective foil from visible surfaces after installation.
