Description
Soudal Pro Gaps Exterior is a one-component acrylic dispersion joint sealant that stays plasto-elastic once it has dried, so it can take joint movement up to a maximum of 12.5%. It is made by Soudal and is supplied in a white 300 mL cartridge for use with a manual or pneumatic caulking gun.
Soudal lists it for gaps between door frames and plasterwork or plasterboard, and for joints on window sills, between plinths and walls, and between masonry. The dried sealant can be painted over with water based paint after 30 minutes.

Where to Use
- Joints with movement up to a maximum of 12.5%
- Connection joints in the building industry
- Seams and gaps on porous surfaces that will be painted
- Gaps between door frames and plasterwork or plasterboard
- Joints on window sills and between plinths and walls or masonry
- Skirting boards, cornices, window frames, staircases, architraves, trims and coving
- Cracks and drilled holes in walls and ceilings (plasterboard, concrete, stone)
- Interior and exterior use
Suitable substrates include timber, MDF, particle board, plywood, fibre cement sheet, plasterboard, concrete, masonry including brick and block work, cement render, tiles, ceramics and aluminium. The surface must be rigid, clean, dry and free of dust and grease.
How to Apply
- Check the joint is within 5 to 20 mm wide and 5 to 10 mm deep. For sealing, make the width equal to the depth, and use a PE backing rod in large joints to avoid three point adhesion.
- Prepare the surface so it is rigid, clean, dry and free of dust and grease. For highly porous surfaces, prime with 1 part Pro Gaps Exterior diluted with 2 parts water.
- Apply with a manual or pneumatic caulking gun at 5 to 30 degrees C. Do not apply when rain or frost is imminent during curing.
- Finish with a spatula or filling knife, or with water before the filler skins.
- Clean tools with water or Soudal Swipex straight after use. Cured filler can only be removed mechanically.
Important Notes
- Do not use in applications where continuous water immersion is possible.
- Soudal recommends a preliminary adhesion and compatibility test on every surface, and a compatibility test before painting.
- The paint must be sufficiently elastic to suit a plasto-elastic sealant, and sufficient flexible sealant should be used when painting.
- Repair with the same material.
