Description
Roberts R2000 is an acrylic co-polymer hard-set adhesive built for a wide range of PVC vinyl, textile and some rubber floorcoverings, with strong initial tack and genuine plasticiser resistance that keeps it non-staining under vinyl over the long term. Its antimicrobial formulation and resistance to biodegradation mean it holds up under everyday wet cleaning practices without the adhesive itself becoming a point of failure.
It’s rated for use over underfloor heating and on concrete substrates carrying real residual moisture — up to 85% relative humidity by the In-Situ Probe method, and pH readings up to 10.0 — which is a genuinely wide tolerance for a vinyl adhesive. For rubber flooring, compatibility varies with the specific rubber composition, so a test is recommended before committing to a full installation.

Where to Use
- Commercial and domestic PVC sheet vinyl, wall vinyl and vinyl composite tiles
- PVC vinyl plank and tile flooring, and linoleum
- Hard-to-hold carpets, including PVC-backed carpets
- Rubber flooring up to 4.0mm, subject to a compatibility test
How to Apply
- Prepare the substrate — must be absorbent, dry, smooth, sound and clean, free of wax, grease, paint and old adhesive.
- Mechanically prepare if needed — shot blasting or diamond grinding for a roughened, open, porous surface.
- Select the correct trowel — 1.6mm V1 for sheet vinyl and tiles, 2.4mm V2 for linoleum or embossed-backing planks, 3.2mm V3 for hard-to-hold carpets.
- Spread within the open time — allow initial tack to develop (around 5 minutes at 20°C) before laying flooring into the wet film.
- Roll the flooring — roll in both directions with the recommended roller weight for full adhesive transfer.
- Restrict traffic — no heavy traffic for 24 hours.
Important Notes
- For temperatures below 5°C or above 35°C, contact RLA Technical for guidance before proceeding.
- Seal domestic vinyl seams with Roberts R5601 Vinyl Seam Sealer.
- Uneven concrete subfloors should be treated with the Roberts range of levelling compounds first.
The 85% relative humidity tolerance is a genuinely practical figure on a renovation or new-build job, where waiting for a concrete slab to dry down to a conservative moisture threshold can hold up an entire flooring schedule. Being rated to bond reliably at a higher residual moisture level than many standard vinyl adhesives gives more flexibility on timing without resorting to a separate moisture barrier or vapour membrane first, provided the reading is confirmed with the correct In-Situ Probe test method rather than estimated.
