Description
RLA Sprayable Contact Adhesive is a high-solids, solvent-based adhesive purpose-built for spray application across a genuinely broad range of materials — vinyls, PVC skirtings and extrusions, cover strips, plastic, metal tread nosings, decorative laminates, MDF, wood, wood veneers, timber, plasterboard, concrete and paper honeycomb. Its high solids content gives outstanding economy of use compared with a lower-solids sprayable adhesive, since more of what’s sprayed actually contributes to the bond rather than evaporating as carrier solvent.
Open time varies meaningfully with material porosity: absorbent materials like polyurethane foam can bond within minutes, while less porous materials such as laminates, MDF and wood veneer give a longer 10-15 minute working window. Applying with a recommended minimum 30psi spray pressure, or alternatively by roller or brush, and ensuring an even coating on both surfaces before bonding, is what achieves the adhesive’s rated bond strength.
Designed around conventional solvent spray equipment rather than roller or trowel application, this contact adhesive suits high-volume production environments — joinery workshops, laminate benchtop fabrication and similar settings — where spray application delivers a faster, more even coverage across large surface areas than manual methods. Its high solids content is a genuine economic advantage in that context, since less product is needed to achieve full coverage compared with a lower-solids alternative.
Because it’s not recommended for exterior application, it should be reserved for interior joinery and fabrication work, and cleaning tools promptly with the correct flammable Cleaner/Thinner — rather than Roberts 900 — avoids damaging vinyl, carpet or painted surfaces during clean-up.

Where to Use
- Vinyls, PVC skirtings/extrusions and cover strips
- Decorative laminates, MDF, wood and wood veneers
- Plasterboard, concrete, paper honeycomb and most common building substrates
- Not recommended for exterior application
How to Apply
- Prepare the surfaces — dry, smooth, sound, clean and free of contaminants.
- Apply an even coating to both surfaces — using spray equipment at 30psi minimum, or roller/brush.
- Allow to dry — before bonding, respecting the material-dependent open time.
- Bond the surfaces — use sufficient pressure to ensure 100% contact.
Important Notes
- Highly flammable — keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and hot surfaces.
- Not recommended for exterior application.
- Clean up with Cleaner/Thinner (flammable); Roberts 900 is not recommended for removing adhesive from vinyl, carpet or painted surfaces.
