PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
RLA Sprayable contact adhesive is a high-quality solvent-based contact adhesive designed for easy application by spraying to bond a wide range of materials. It has excellent bond strength and high heat resistance. The high solids
content gives outstanding economy of use. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR EXTERIOR APPLICATION.
SUITABILITY:
ROBERTS R101S Contact Adhesive is designed for use on
most types of:
- Vinyls
- PVC skirtings/ extrusions
- Cover strips
- Plastic
- Metal treads nosing’s
- Decorative laminates
- MDF
- Wood
- Wood veneers
- Timber
- Plasterboard (Gyprock)
- Concrete
- Paper honeycomb
And most common Building substrates.
COVERAGE:
- 6-8m2 per litre
- Spread rates may vary depending on the condition and substrate
absorbency.
PACKAGING:
- 20 Litre Containers
SHELF LIFE/STORAGE:
- Keep the container tightly closed.
- Store Locked up.
- Keep the container in a cool, well-ventilated place away from heat
sources.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
- To be by the current Australian Standard “Floor Coverings
1884-2021 Resilient Sheet & Tiles – Laying & Maintenance Practices.” - All surfaces should be dry, smooth, sound, clean and free of wax,
grease, oil, previously applied adhesive, and other contaminants. - Priming is only generally required when installed on Highly porous
subfloors. - If priming is required, use RLA PU95, or RLA Universal Primer.
APPLICATION:
- RLA Sprayable is designed for use with all conventional solvent spray equipment using suction feed or pressure pot equipment.
- A recommended minimum pressure of 30psi is required to give optimum bond strength.
- Alternatively, the application can be by way of a roller or brush.
- An even coating should be applied to both surfaces, ensuring complete coverage on both surfaces and the adhesive allowed to dry before bonding.
- On absorbent materials such as polyurethane foam, bonding can be achieved within minutes of application, depending on atmospheric conditions.
- On less porous materials such as laminates, MDF, and wood veneer, open time can be up 10-15 minutes, depending on atmospheric conditions.
- Use sufficient pressure to ensure 100% contact is recommended in all cases.
CLEAN UP:
- Use Cleaner/Thinner (Flammable) to clean up equipment and adhesive spills.
- Roberts 900 is not recommended for removing adhesive from vinyl, carpet, or painted surfaces.
HIGHLY FLAMMABLE:
- Contains 30-60% Liquid Hydrocarbons
IN CASE OF FIRE:
- In the case of FIRE, use foam to extinguish.
- Firefighters should wear full protective clothing and self-contained
breathing apparatus.
SAFETY AND HANDLING:
KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT/SPARKS/OPEN FLAMES/HOT SURFACES/NO SMOKING
- Ground/bond container and receiving equipment.
- Use explosion-proof electrical /ventilation/lighting
equipment. - Use only non-sparking tools.
- Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
- Keep the container tightly closed.
- Wear suitable respiratory protection.
- Use in well-ventilated areas.
- Avoid breathing vapours
- Persons who are sensitive to odours and chemicals should avoid the work
area. - Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
- Wear eye protection and suitable gloves and clothing.
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke while using this product.
- If on the skin, wash with plenty of soap and water.
- If in the eyes: rinse cautiously with water for several minutes.
- Remove contact lenses; if present, continue rinsing.
- If any skin or eye irritation persists or you feel unwell, get medical
attention.
FIRST AID:
- If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre.
- For advice or if you feel unwell, contact a Poisons Information Centre:

New Zealand ph. 0800 764 766 or a doctor at once. - If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water.
- IF SWALLOWED, immediately call the Poisons Information Centre or a
doctor. - IF ON SKIN Remove immediately all contaminated clothing and wash skin
with soap and water. - If skin irritation occurs, get medical advice/attention.
- IF IN EYES Rinse carefully with water for several minutes.
- If eye irritation persists, get medical advice/attention.
