Max Bond 2010 Cush ‘n’ Lay Double-Bond Carpet Adhesive is a synthetic latex adhesive built for the two-stage nature of a genuine Double-Bond carpet installation — bonding cushion underlay to the subfloor first, then carpet to that underlay — while also handling direct-stick applications when needed. Its fast tack build lets installation move along quickly, while prolonged rebond time gives real flexibility to reposition or adjust carpet before the adhesive fully sets.
Coverage varies meaningfully by trowel notch and carpet backing type, from 5m² per litre for underlay-to-subfloor bonding down to just 2m² per litre for coarse-back, woven or action-back carpets that need more adhesive transfer through a heavier backing. Being suitable for use over absorbent heated subfloors, with reference to AS1884-2012’s heating shutdown guidance, extends where it can be specified into underfloor-heated installations.
The prolonged rebond time built into the Double-Bond system gives real installation flexibility — rather than needing the carpet laid the moment the adhesive reaches tack, there’s a genuine working window to position and press the carpet into place, which reduces the pressure on installers working across a larger area. Its low-VOC formulation meeting Green Star Building Standards also makes it a suitable specification choice for commercial fit-outs with indoor air quality requirements, on top of its core role as a reliable carpet adhesive.

How to Apply
- Prepare the substrate — sound, smooth, dry concrete, screed, plywood, hardboard or cement sheet underlay.
- Check absorbency — if the carpet has non-porous backing, ensure the subfloor is absorbent enough for the adhesive to dry and cure.
- Select the correct trowel notch — match to the carpet backing type and installation stage.
- Lay and roll — ensure complete adhesive transfer, then roll with a 25-35kg roller.
- Seal seams — use a suitable seam sealer, and Dual Bond seaming tape on double-bond seams.
