Description
Mapei’s Ultrabond ECO VS90 Plus is a flooring adhesive supplied ready to use in 5kg and 14kg drums, used to bond flooring to substrates that are dry, absorbent, level, sound and mechanically strong. Where a substrate isn’t naturally absorbent, a smoothing compound applied first to a minimum 2mm thickness brings it up to a surface the adhesive can properly key into.
Beyond straightforward bonding, it’s also used to repair cracks in the substrate, consolidate and waterproof screeds, and form new fast-drying screeds and levelling layers ahead of the final flooring — a broader role than a single-purpose flooring adhesive. That range of use is useful on a real job, where the substrate under one room rarely matches the next exactly, and having one adhesive that also handles the repair and levelling work saves stocking several separate products for the same visit.

Where to Use
- Bonding flooring to dry, absorbent, level, sound substrates
- Non-absorbent substrates, once primed with a smoothing compound to a minimum 2mm thickness
- Repairing cracks in the substrate ahead of flooring installation
- Consolidating and waterproofing screeds
- Forming new fast-drying screeds and levelling layers
How to Apply
- Check the substrate — it must be dry, absorbent, level, sound, mechanically strong, and free of dust, loose particles and cracks.
- Prepare non-absorbent substrates — apply a smoothing compound to a minimum 2mm thickness first.
- Apply the adhesive — spread only as much as can be covered within the open time, using a trowel suited to the flooring type and backing.
- Lay the flooring — press the flooring into the wet adhesive within the open time, adjusting for any variation caused by temperature, humidity or substrate absorbency.
- Clean up — remove excess adhesive with water while wet; once dry, clean with alcohol or a suitable solvent.
Important Notes
- Waiting and open time may vary depending on temperature, relative humidity and substrate absorbency — plan the job around site conditions, not the datasheet figure alone.
- Only apply as much adhesive as can be covered within the open time while achieving good contact with the back of the flooring.
- Consumption depends on substrate uniformity, the flooring’s backing and the trowel used — there is no single fixed coverage figure.
- Protect stored product from frost.
- Store in the original, undamaged sealed packaging until ready to use.
