One drum, most resilient flooring types: Ultrabond Eco V4 Evolution’s 60-70 minute open time and chair-castor-rated bond (EN 12529) suit everything from LVT and rubber sheet to needle-punch textile flooring.

Description

Ultrabond Eco V4 Evolution is Mapei’s universal ‘all in one’ adhesive for resilient and textile floor and wall coverings, formulated as a ready-to-use water-dispersion paste with fast, strong initial tack and an extended open time. It’s specifically suited to PVC, LVT and rubber flooring in environments carrying real static and dynamic load, including heavy-intensity commercial and industrial settings.

Its long open time — 60-70 minutes on absorbent substrates, up to 120 minutes on non-absorbent ones — gives an installer real working room on larger areas without the adhesive skinning over before the flooring goes down. It also doubles as a transitional pressure-sensitive adhesive on impervious, non-absorbent substrates, which is a genuinely different bonding mode from its wet-bed use on absorbent surfaces.

Where to Use

  • PVC, LVT (including modular and rigid-core LVT) and rubber flooring
  • Textile floor coverings with latex, PVC or polyurethane foam backing
  • Indoor sport flooring and rubber athletic surfaces
  • Wet-bed application over underfloor heating on absorbent substrates

How to Apply

  1. Select the correct notch — trowel type is matched to the flooring backing and substrate flatness, from roller application (approx. 200 g/m²) up to notch B2 (350-450 g/m²).
  2. Spread within the open time — only apply as much adhesive as can be covered and bonded within 60-70 minutes.
  3. Lay the flooring — press the covering firmly into the adhesive, ensuring full transfer to the backing.
  4. Roll thin or solid-colour coverings — where specified, pass a nap roller over the ridges of the still-wet adhesive.
  5. Allow to cure — keep foot traffic light for 3-5 hours and avoid full use until 24-48 hours have passed.

Important Notes

  • Not flammable, but ensure good ventilation during and after application and drying.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to frost during storage.
  • Product contains BIT and CIT/MIT preservatives — for allergy-sensitive individuals, consult the safety data sheet before use.
  • For professional use only.

Being rated to EN 12529 for chair-castor stress is a genuinely practical detail in office and healthcare fit-outs, where a flooring adhesive that looks fine on installation day can fail months later under the repeated point-loading of a rolling office chair. Its dual role as both a wet-bed adhesive on absorbent substrates and a transitional pressure-sensitive adhesive on impervious ones also means the same drum can cover more of a mixed-substrate job, rather than needing a separate product switch partway through.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the open time for Ultrabond Eco V4 Evolution?

60-70 minutes on absorbent substrates, extending to 120 minutes on non-absorbent substrates. Only spread as much adhesive as can be covered within that window.

Is Ultrabond Eco V4 Evolution suitable for heavy commercial traffic?

Yes — it’s rated for static and dynamic loads including intense loads in residential, commercial and industrial environments such as hospitals, shopping centres and airports, and for chair-castor stress to EN 12529.

How long before the floor can take foot traffic?

Light foot traffic after 3-5 hours. The adhesive isn’t considered fully ready for use until 24-48 hours have passed.
