Sika SikaTile 015 Prep N Prime is a flexible, water-based, nonporous primer specifically designed with superior bond enhancing properties for use on existing tiles, smooth and non porous surfaces, without the need for mechanical surface preparation.

 

• Tile over difficult, non-porous surfaces without the need for mechanical surface preparation
• Fast drying formulation allows for installation of tiles 1 hour after application
• Ready to use, no mixing required

 

USAGE

SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime is designed for use both internally and
externally on wall and floor applications. SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime
is suitable for use for the following applications.

• Priming of exisiting soundly fixed tiles prior to fixing
  new waterproofing & tiling systems.
• Priming of PVC and metal floor pipes or penetrations
  and control leak/puddles flanges prior to waterproofing.
• Priming of soundly fixed water based epoxy coatings
  prior to tiling.
• Priming of resin backed tiles and stone prior to fixing.

Storage Conditions

• Store in dry cool conditions out of direct sunlight.

 

APPLICATION INFORMATION

Consumption

• 8-10m2 per litre.
• Consumption is dependant on surface profile, and application technique.
• Use consumption as a guide only.

Ready For Use Conditions

• Primer – Exisitng matt finish tiles 1+ hour
• Primer – Exisint gloss finish tiles 3+ hours
• Priming – PVC & metal 2+ hours
• Priming – Resin backed tile & stone 3+ hours
• Primer – old water based epoxy coatings 3+ hours
• NOTE: All application information values are determined in laboratory conditions:
  1. 22°C & 50% relative humidity.
  2. Site conditions will vary wait times, higher temperatures will reduce times
     and cool or cold temperatures will extended wait times
  3. Allow primer to dry and harden prior to waterproofing & tiling.

 

LIMITATIONS

• Test product in an inconspicuous area to determine suitability of application.
• SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime is not suitable for solvent based finishes and coatings.
• When using externally or in wet areas appropriate falls to waste are required.
• SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime is not suitable for continuous water immersion applications, eg : swimming
  pools and spas etc.
• Do not apply onto wet or damp substrates.
• Do not dilute.
• Do not use as a waterproofing membrane or on areas of negative hydrostatic pressure.
• When using over existing tiles ensure the tile are sound and bonded well to the substrate.
• Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C and above 35°C and in hot and windy conditions.
• SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime maybe be used over water based epoxy coatings, ensure coating are lightly
  sanded prior to application.
• If using as a primer for waterproofing ensure primer has completely dried prior to application of the
  waterproof membrane.
• Not suitable for use over tiles or stone that have sealers or coating applied previously.
• Ensure SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime is fully dry prior to application of subsequent membranes and
  coatings.
• Prior to priming resin backed tile and stone ensure the resin is sounded bonded to the bask of the tile
  or stone.
